Episode 46- The Howling (1981)

Well guys, we figured that if we were going to wait 46 whole episodes to do a werewolf film, it only made sense that we'd do one that is absolutely bonkers. With that, we bring you the 1981 Joe Dante film "The Howling." Special topics of consideration include: whether or not werewolves are sympathetic creatures, whether or not Tom Savini cares about us, Slim Pickens, Roller Coaster Tycoon as a film score, connections between lycanthropy & psychology and the tonguing of wounds.

Have you seen "The Howling"? Do you love it? Do you agree that it is bonkers? Let us know at facebook.com/werewolfambulance, on Twitter @werebulance or on Instagram @werewolfambulance. This movie was suggested to us by a fantastic listener named Dylan, so please keep your suggestions coming--we love to hear from you!

Kelly vs. Roman Polanski in a gross-off for the ages.

Episode 44- Scream (1996)

First, some errors and omissions: In this episode, I say that you can't really see Tom Cruise's penis in "All the Right Moves" very well but after doing further research with the magic of online videos, you totally can. You can totally see his penis. Please accept my deepest apology for this error.

Best,
Katie

Okay, onto the episode! This week we discuss the 1996 teen slasher "Scream." Special topics of consideration include: getting into One Direction, MMA puns, similarities to James Bond villains, the oldest high schoolers ever, disillusionment, a handful of Canadian jokes and most excitingly: our new Angelfire website! Visit it at werewolfambulance.angelfire.com. By the way, we also spoil some things in "Scream 2" so... we're sorry about that.

In this week's episode, we explore our darker and more primitive sides as we discuss the 2013 high-tension cannibal thriller "We Are What We Are." Special topics for your consideration include: the skillsets of country doctors, family drama, weird religion, Keanu Reeves, Allen's nightmare dungeon, eating a dog, eating a cat, eating a horse and of course, eating people.

Episode 42- Spider Baby (1967)

In this episode, we make an overdue foray into the '60s to discuss the absolutely bonkers 1967 Lon Chaney Jr. film "Spider Baby." Special topics for your consideration include: socially acceptable drunk driving, VERY VERY subtle references to "The Wolf Man," the weird dating lives of legal secretaries, tiptoeing into exploitation cinema and what it truly means to be pre-pre-natal.

In this episode, we discuss the 1981 classic shark film "Jawses" starring the beloved characters of 'Quimpt' and 'Richard Dreyfuss.' No, that's not true--we watched "The Last Shark" aka "Great White" aka "L'Ultimo Squalo," the Italian cover band version of that one really famous shark movie. Special topics include: the bizarre accents and even more bizarre death of Vic Morrow, how gubernatorial campaigns work, butcher conspiracies, sharks in reverse, the Giorgios and greatest scene we have viewed to this point in WWA history.

Have you seen this movie? If not, you should really see this movie--it's free on YouTube! Then tell us what you thought of it at facebook.com/werewolfambulance, Instagram @werewolfambulance or Twitter @werebulance. As always, we love to hear from you!

What was that?? Was that something at the window?! Better grab a meat tenderizer and a board with some nails in it because this week, we're talking about the 2011 home invasion horror film "You're Next." Special topics for discussion include: mock turtlenecks, family dynamics, where Allen does or does not hide weapons in his home, the Michael Myers effect, a variety of other home invasion films and favorite real-life murderous rage soundtracks.

Episode 39- Leprechaun in the Hood (2000)

In this week's episode, we get angry about the level of effort put into (or more accurately, not put into) the 5th installment in the "Leprechaun" franchise, the 2000 film "Leprechaun in the Hood." Did anyone give any shit about this movie at all? It does not appear so. Special topics of discussion include: Tyler Perry characters, Ice-T's acting chops, positive rap, spending gold instead of money, and what in the world was actually happening with Coolio??

Werewolf EMTs, how could you do this to us? We know that technically it's our fault but we're blaming you anyway. What did you think of this movie? If you enjoyed it, tell us why! We sincerely want to know. Get in touch at facebook.com/werewolfambulance, Instagram@werewolfambulance and Twitter @werebulance.

Episode 38- The Gate (1987)

In this episode, we chastise you for not using the hashtag #saviniwatch2k15. Guys, why are we the only ones using it?? C'mon. Anyway, this week we are discussing the 1987 film "The Gate." Some fairly important topics of discussion: Canadians, baby Stephen Dorff, baby serial killers, "hair and feelings" (as usual), the return of Brian from "Wings" and the crazy effects that brought us the wonderful, wonderful creatures of this film.

God, do we love "The Gate." Do you love it? Please tell us you love it. Or tell us if you hate it! We always love to hear from you at facebook.com/werewolfambulance, on Twitter @werebulance or on Instagram @werewolfambulance. Episode 37- Zombeavers (2014)

In this episode, we quite frankly struggle to come up with enough things to say about the 2014 slasher/comedy "Zombeavers." Instead, we discuss important topics such as: television shows we enjoy, movies we'd like to see get made, other movies that are better than this one, the song "Your Body is a Wonderland" and we also set a Werewolf Ambulance record for the number of times that the phrase, "I don't know" is uttered in a single episode.

Did you like this movie? Tell us about it on facebook.com/werewolfambulance, on Twitter @werebulance or on Instagram @werewolfambulance. We'd really love to hear from you on this one!

Episode 36- Waxwork (1988)

Special topics for your consideration include: the rise & fall of Billy from "Gremlins," oddly-named Draculas, gin Gimlis, the trustworthiness of women named after countries and--AGAIN--terrible cops! We may as well change the iTunes description of this podcast to "an analysis and critique of police work in the modern horror film." God, horror cops are the worst.

Episode 35- Neon Maniacs (1986)

In this week's episode, we are joined by our friend Josh to discuss the 1986 cult classic "Neon Maniacs." This episode produces more questions than it does answers, such as...what is a Neon Maniac? Where did they come from? Why do they live near the ocean if water will kill them? What do they talk about during the day?... and so on, and so forth. Other important topics include: Benjamin Button disease, possible repercussions for disrespecting 80's movie punks and yet another glimpse into the world of ineptitude that is being a cop in a horror movie.

Topics of importance include attempts to contact rock legends via a ouija board, the age range of people who can play high school students, Fairuza Balk being turned up to 11, an unhealthy enjoyment of smoking and the fact that maaaaybe juggalos aren't so bad.

Episode 32- Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988)

By popular demand, we are digging into the seventh installment of the "Friday the 13th" series, "The New Blood." This 1988 slasher has it all: kicky boots and cheap pearls, weird psychiatry, Patrick Swayze's hair, corpses that relocate regularly, telekinetic battles and the unofficial King of the Horror Con: Kane Hodder.

Did you like this movie? If so, did you like it for any reasons other than cool skeletal Jason? We'd love to hear from you! Get in touch with us at facebook.com/werewolfambulance or on Twitter @werebulance or on Instagram @werewolfambulance.

Special topics of nonsense that we cover this week include: Dom DeLuise, "talking about Ireland", that 'Sherlock' episode "Humina Ha-Ha", drunks cops and the unending horrors of the ocean.

Please accept Katie's most heartfelt apologies for saying nothing useful and also for burping and making excessive sound effects in this episode.

In this episode, we discuss inexplicable soundtracks, movies we'd rather be watching, dozens of nautical puns, television hospital dramas, whether British children are scarier than children of other nationalities and overly convenient spear guns.

Let us know what you think--what are we missing about this one??

Also, in this episode we reference another local podcast called "Matt and Ryan Get Board" that you can check out at mattandryangetboard.libsyn.com

Episode 13- Phantom of the Paradise (1974)

In this episode, we get deep into the 1974 Brian De Palma horror comedy rock opera spectacular "Phantom of the Paradise." Topics we cover include: buttery flowing hair, fever dreams, a drunk Stevie Nicks, life in the 1970's and the wonder that is BEEF.

Apologies for the sound quality on this episode; it was Swan's fault and most definitely not ours. Big thanks to Steve (https://www.facebook.com/permanenthearingdamage) for helping us rescue it. We'll be back in our regular studio next week.

Episode 12- The Happening (2008)

So, did we hate the 2008 horror disaster "The Happening" as much as every other human being on the planet who endured it did? You'll have to download the episode to find out but, spoiler alert... the answer is "probably." Some points of discussion include: being 'The Ruiner', vacant stares, natural horror done right, 'How It's Made: Wind Edition', what science actually does and a lengthy thesis on the movie "My Girl."

As always, if you liked this episode, please tell a friend! And if you reaaaally liked it, please consider giving us a rating and/or review on iTunes.

Episode 10- Frightmare (1974)

In this episode, we are joined by special guest Mike Bolam to discuss the 1974 film "Frightmare" in which we are treated to lovely British people maiming, killing and ultimately eating their victims amid a backdrop of discos and family drama.

Some topics of discussion in this episode include: teenage brats, eye horror, out-of-control grannies, lying about lies, the exposition scenes in porn and the inappropriateness of forced psychiatry.

The special outro music in this episode is a song called "Beyond the Seventh Door" by Mike's band Abysme. You can find more of their recordings and information at www.facebook.com/abysme.

Episode 9- Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)

In this episode, we celebrate one of the very few Christmas movies worth mentioning: the 1984 holiday spectacular "Silent Night, Deadly Night." Some topics of discussion include PUNISHMENT, extreme stereotyping of Italians, a low bra count, things you should and should not say to children, shitty nuns and lots and lots of talk about taints. Does this movie help to turn Katie into less of Scrooge-like jerk about Christmas? You'll have to download the episode to find out!

We hope that you enjoy this episode and that you have a safe, happy and axe-wielding-maniac-free week. Happy Holidays from your friends at Werewolf Ambulance!

Episode 8- I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997)

As it turns out, "I Know What You Did Last Summer" is maybe not-so-good...but then, what horror movie from the 1990s is? We delve into that topic as well as trying somewhat fruitlessly to deconstruct the plot of this movie in this week's episode. Some other points of discussion include: stuff that doesn't make any sense, other movies, 90s soundtracks, more other movies, the agelessness of David from "Roseanne", free admission to the strip club and how Jennifer Love Hewitt is utterly perfect. Episode 7- Ju-on: The Grudge (2002)

In this week's episode about the 2002 thriller "Ju-on: The Grudge", we dive headfirst into the world of Japanese ghost stories and Allen stands strongly in defense of movies that maaayyybe aren't that great but stay with you for a long time anyway. Topics include the Twizzler effect, the American urge to smash all subtlety, wig attacks, super running and the necessity of Post-It notes. Please take a listen and let us know what you think! Episode 6- Alucarda (1978)

This week's episode of Werewolf Ambulance finds us going slightly mad over a movie that is definitely not for the faint of heart. In our review of the 1978 Mexican horror film "Alucarda" we get into Catholicism, high school boyfriends, unexpected beheadings, the strong bonds between women, Satan's role at an orgy and when it's appropriate to ask the questions "what?" and "why?" over and over and over. Join us for this descent into madness and as always, we'd love to hear your feedback!

The special outro song in this episode is "Choking on Melting Teeth" from our friend 8cylinder here in Pittsburgh (rhinoplex.org/8cylinder) who has releases available on 10" records and digital formats at Unmapped North (unmappednorth.bandcamp.com)

If you're traveling for the holiday this week, you could do worse than downloading our special Thanksgiving episode of Werewolf Ambulance, "Godmonster of Indian Flats". Why is it the special Thanksgiving episode? You'll have to wait until the end to find out. This is our very first guest episode that features our friend Carrie, who brought us this cult classic. Where to begin with this one? We discuss such topics Six Flags: New Jersey, art cars, political "intrigue", a proliferation of vests, extreme racism, the real reasons women get into STEM jobs and the "Eraserhead" baby. Episode 4- A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

We are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the slasher classic "A Nightmare on Elm Street" by waxing poetic about such important topics as parental alcoholism, villains who talk too much, Johnny Depp's smokin' bod, bullies, 'West Side Story', dream logic and bucketloads of blood. How do the practical effects look in 2014? Does pre-meta-horror Wes Craven stand the test of time? You'll have to listen to find out!

Episode 3- Stitches (2012)

Wow, Stitches. In this episode we do less talking about the actual 2012 Irish horror-comedy film that we purported to discuss and more talking about clowns in horror, the current state of horror films, being a horror elitist vs. rolling around in movie garbage, over-the-top gore, the Milo & Otis effect, Annabelle, Marky Mark, teenagers, and puns. So did this movie have us in...stitches? You'll have to listen to find out!
