Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast

In this week's episode, we're discussing the brand new 2023 independent film "Skinamarink." Special topics for your consideration include: um, you know, saying some stuff...about stuff? Talking about corners, walls, ceilings, and the feet of children, trying to get a foothold in someone else's nightmare, and a very weird personalized license plate.

We've done a couple avant garde/arthouse style horror movies in the past. May we suggest Episode 115- "Hausu," Episode 194- "Santa Sangre," or Episode 240- "Mandy"? Also, does everything Lucio Fulci ever made count? If so, boy have we done a lot of those.

In this week's episode, we're discussing the 1987 supernatural (?) educational (??) erotic (???) film "A Chinese Ghost Story." Normally I'd write some jokes here and compare it to other movies we've covered, but frankly the Super Bowl made me get too tore up to do all that. Totally not my fault obviously. You'll like this movie though, it's pretty goddamn fantastic.

In this week's episode, we're exploring the world of fine dining and luxurious food with the 2022 film "The Menu." Special topics for your consideration include: a gift from a listener sparks food joy for us, being open to John Leguizamo, gatekeeping of hobbies, the good old days of smoking in restaurants, red flags in a potential partner, and chocolate hats, THE CHOCOLATE HATS!

We've covered two Anya Taylor-Joy movies in the past (Episode 73- "The Witch" and Episode 319- "New Mutants" which is also a crossover with the 'Marveling at Marvel's Marvels podcast) and one Nicholas Hoult (Episode 267- "Warm Bodies.) Sorry no Ralph Fiennes.

Are you a fan of found footage movies? You may like Episode 15- "The Blair Witch Project," Episodes 83 and 296- "Paranormal Activity" and "Paranormal Activity 3" respectively, Episode 203- "Grave Encounters," Episodes 254, 256 and 258- the "Hell House LLC" trilogy, Episode 380- "The Lock In," or Episode 408- "Deadstream."

In this week's episode, we're discussing Stephen King's directorial debut (and hasty exit from directing), the 1986 diesel-themed disaster "Maximum Overdrive." Special topics for your consideration include: a quick visit to our errors & omissions corner, a retrospective on the career of Emilio Estevez, more inexplicable sex stuff from Steven Kang himself, the great unifier that is AC/DC and trucks. Just...just trucks.

Stephen King villains are funny. Please enjoy a group of religious children in Episode 59- "Children of the Corn," a car in Episode 126- "Christine," a teenage girl in Episode 206- "Carrie," a dog in Episode 218- "Cujo," and some grass? or a rune or something, I genuinely cannot remember, in Episode 291- "In the Tall Grass."

In this week's episode, we're concluding our siblings-running-a-farm rock block with the 1980 utterly bananas film "Motel Hell." Truly, the mind boggles. Special topics for your consideration include: a fantastic tagline for a movie or a brand of smoked meats or really whatever you're promoting, the siren call of Rory Calhoun, terrible police work, absolutely baffling motivations, and the age old question of what did characters know and when did they know it?

I'm putting this up there with a handful of my other favorite bizarre horror movies of the 1980s- Episode 35- "Neon Maniacs," Episode 140- "Killer Klowns from Outer Space," Episode 174- "Chopping Mall," and Episode 265- "Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-o-Rama."

In this week's episode, we're tackling one of the biggest horror movies of last year-- it's Jordan Peele's "Nope." Special topics for your consideration include: the first in a movie rock block of siblings running farms together, a real lack of knowledge around things like television channels, new emcee names, the worst day of your life, and of course, horses. Fuckin horses.

We've covered all three of the recent Jordan Peele movies- Episode 124- "Get Out" and Episode 226- "Us."

In this week's episode, we've got the much-anticipated annual romcom episode with the Lindsay Lohan/Chord Overstreet holiday vehicle "Falling for Christmas." Fantastic. Special topics for your consideration include: rich ski people, the utter delight that is Lindsay Lohan, the utterly unbelievable name that is CHord Overstreet, the concept of a 'flapjack daddy,' a few *small teeny tiny* plot holes in this otherwise-perfectly conceived and masterfully written film, and another much-anticipated event: another voicemail from Claudia.

Wanna hear our other romcom episodes? They are Episode 209- "Love Actually," Episode 261- "You've Got Mail," and Episode 361- "Miss Congeniality," but we also once went absolutely insane while in lockdown and spent the better part of three hours over two episodes discussing "Titanic." Those were Bonus Episodes #3 & 4 in April and May of 2020. What a time to have been alive.

Hey, be more like Claudia and leave us a voicemail! You can call 412-407-7025 and let us hear your sweet sweet voices.

Look EMTs, the holidays can be tough and we can get tired, plus there are holiday Oreos, and you know how it goes. Frankly we needed a week off and, in the spirit of comfort & joy, we're leaving you with one of our all-time favorite episodes, "Over the Top." Stick around til the end to find out who won an arm wrestling match between us back in 2017.

We'll catch you all with renewed vigor next week for our fourth annual* New Year's romcom, "Falling for Christmas."

*it should have been our fifth, but one year we must really have had the holiday blues because we dropped the idea altogether and did "The Fate of the Furious." Geniuses.

Thanks for sticking with us, and be kind to each other and yourselves.

In this week's episode, we're giving our Discord channel (seriously, join us over there! https://discord.com/invite/DutFjx3cBD) what they wanted, and they wanted the 2017 Scottish zombie musical "Anna and the Apocalypse." Special topics for your consideration include: a lot of British television talk, Santa Claus: hot or not?, taking the time to talk about your feelings during an actual apocalypse, offensive things that we said about Blink 182 and also Jesus but we left them in the episode just for you, and what life would be like if the people around you just sometimes broke out into song? Yikes.

Into horror movies with some musical numbers? We've done two others: Episode 13- "The Phantom of the Paradise and Episode 389- "Repo! The Genetic Opera." And, not a musical, but please watch "The Alien Factor" (Episode 183) if only for the finest musical performance we've ever seen in a horror movie with the Baltimore-based band Atlantis playing a real banger, "Maybe Someday."
