Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast (general)

Yinz, it's our annual New Year's romcom episode and honestly we're baffled as to why. We've taken a trip back to the turn of the century and nude shimmer lipstick with the 2000 film "Miss Congeniality" (very much a different film than I remembered). Special topics for your consideration include: high highs and low lows of potential celeb friendships, a roundup of Christmas romcoms (and frankly, holy shit at these things), Satan's panties, perfect pratfalls, incompetence at the federal level, and our record as matchmakers (1-0 and we're probably out after that!)

Last year we bailed on the romcom idea and instead covered "The Fate of the Furious," which was Episode 313 and also, spectacular. Our previous romcoms were Episode 209- "Love Actually" and Episode 261- "You've Got Mail," but we also once went absolutely insane while in lockdown and spent the better part of three hours over two episodes discussing "Titanic." Those were Bonus Episodes #3 & 4 in April and May of 2020.

Hi EMTs! We hope you've had a wonderful or at least a tolerable holiday season thus far. We're enjoying our week off and are confident (or at least Allen is) that you'll enjoy one of his favorite old episodes: Episode 24- "Grabbers." This is a 2012 Irish horror comedy about needing to stay drunk to ward off a bloodsucking creature, so naturally, we got drunk to watch and record. Really drunk. I don't really remember it but Allen thinks it's a goodie, so it must be! We love you all and we'll see you back here next week for our New Year's episode, "Miss Congeniality."

That sound you hear is sleigh bells jingling, ring-ting-tingling, and some light sobbing. This week's episode is our eighth annual Christmas horror episode and, as is the case for so many films of this genre, hoo BOY is it emotionally brutal. We're talking about the 1980 holiday unclassic "Christmas Evil." To be fair, this movie has everything: labor struggles, confused adolescents, the Hamburger Emperor Band, a terrifying collection of Christmas ephemera, a fake Geraldo Rivera, seasonal familial strife, the horrors of midnight mass, extremely upsetting holiday music, a man inexplicably covering his face and hands in mud and kissing a house! It's got it all that and more!

Do you like hearing us agonize about the holidays? Here are seven years' worth of episodes for you!
2014: Episode 9- "Silent Night, Deadly Night"
2015: Episode 61- "Krampus"
2016: Episode 113- "Black Christmas" (Bonus: Episode 114- "Gremlins")
2017- Episode 156- "Gingerdead Man"
2018- Episode 208- "Better Watch Out"
2019- Episode 260- "Rare Exports"
2020- Episode 312- "Black Christmas" (2019 remake)

We are wishing you and yours the happiest of holiday seasons and, even if it sucks, remember that we love you and it'll be over soon. That being said, we're taking a break next week and will be releasing a classic episode that we feel could use some extra love like that dumb tree in the Charlie Brown Christmas special. We'll be back the following week with another dumb tradition: the New Years rom-com.

In this week's episode, we're discussing the last "Twilight" film. No, not the last one ever made but ABSOLUTELY the last one we are ever reviewing. Hallelujah, holy shit, where'e the Tylenol? Special topics for your consideration include: completely rethinking our previous stance on teens, Kenny Fisher, continuing the skaversation with our brand new ska band, a very frank conversation with Stephanie Meyer, TNG-level makeup and the fact that THIS IS NOT EVEN A MOVIE. It isn't. Oh, and this might be our most NSFW episode in awhile. Sorry about that.

We talked about "Twilight" in Episode 355. We made some episodes before that and a few after, I don't know, I can't remember. I feel so empty. Twilight is the final ruiner.

In this week's episode, we're discussing the sequel to a film we really enjoyed-- it's the 2020 follow-up film "The Babysitter: Killer Queen." Did we enjoy this one as well? You'll have to listen to find out! Special topics for your consideration include: the hip hip music of teens today or perhaps teens 30 years ago, the bad parts of getting older, a reminder not to be a cool dad, an incomplete list of film sequels that surpassed their predecessor, and doing bong rips with Ken Marino.

If you missed us discussing the original film in this series, it's Episode 154- "The Babysitter." If you'd like to hear us talk about some horror comedy we loved, you could do worse than Episode 236- "House," Episode 293- "Happy Death Day," Episode 322- "Freaky," and one I just remembered that I absolutely adored: Episode 78- "Housebound."

In this week's episode, we're tackling a bit of a head-scratcher: the 2020 film "The Empty Man." Come along with us on this journey-- special topics for your consideration include: peeing in the pool, white people doing international travel, emo teens, Stephen Root, Big Boi, landlines, and a recurring joke that is just a bit empty, man.

We reference the film "Kill List" in this episode quite a bit; you can hear us discuss that all the way back in Episode 19. Also, I just googled "cerebral horror" just to see what movies we've covered, and we'd done nearly all of the top 10. Somehow--somehow! "Cube" was on that list so I'm gonna go ahead and recommend that. It's Episode 166.

In this week's episode we're discussing the revenge film that wasn't-- the fourth entry in the "Child's Play" franchise, "Bride of Chucky." Special topics for your consideration include: an undying love of John Ritter, all 90s roads leading back to Jerry Springer, the choices that culminate in owning a waterbed, toxic relationships and the "Twilight" effect looming large in our brains, inept cops, and a surprise visit from a dolphin.

Did you miss our other "Child's Play" episodes? Naturally we covered the sequel first (Episode 28) and the original film second (Episode 231) with the remake coming in appropriately third, in Episode 287.

Let's do "Twilight!" he said.
It'll be fun! he said.
It's got vampires and werewolves, how bad can it be? he said.
My friends, I am here to tell you that it is bad. It is really, really bad. Special topics for your consideration include: nonstop relationship red flags, daringly naming a character "BEAUTIFUL SWAN" on purpose, the return of a certain fan-favorite bell, Mike Dexter, spring training, ravioli, hunky dads, and becoming a true crime podcast instead.

Warning: this episode is particularly NSFW. Like even more so than usual.

Frankly I'm not sure that there's a more wretched vampire film than this one, but that might just be because Danzig's new project hasn't been released yet. Regardless, you may also like our episodes about such wretched vampire films as Episode 89- "Queen of the Damned," Episode 153- "The Hunger" (I'm sorry, I hated it), Episode 310- "Among the Shadows" or Episode 317- "Dracula 2000."

In this week's episode, we're taking a break from the new and popular films of peak spooky season and discussing a piece of work that just stinks of our old friend Charles Band- the 1987 film "Dolls." Special topics for your consideration include: questionable parenting choices, the perks of being a manchild, a celebration of a different film that truly never stops amazing us, movie punks, nip slips, child support, tiny knives and an extremely prescient dream.

I know Stuart Gordon directed this film but frankly I like Charles Band better, so let's talk about movies that he's had a hand in: Episode 156- "Gingerdead Man," Episode 164- "Puppet Master," Episode 165- "Puppet Master 2," Episode 171- "Ghoulies," Episode 186- "Tourist Trap," and Episode 199- "Terrorvision." Somehow we have never tackled an "Evil Bong" film so uh...stay tuned for that, I guess??

Happy Halloween hangover day, EMTs! We hope you're still with us and that your stomachache from eating 400 fun-size Milky Ways is gone. In this week's episode, we're discussing the brand new entry into the Halloween franchise, "Halloween Kills." Special topics for your consideration include: two of our patron saints (Jamie Lee Curtis and Judy Greer obviously), when flipping the script goes wrong and who is to blame for it, the lamentation of Josh Hartnett no longer existing in this universe, cop school, vigilante justice, sentimentality, and looking like you financially support NPR.

We have never and probably will never cover the 1978 "Halloween," but we have covered "Halloween III: Season of the Witch" (Episode 52), "Halloween H20" (Episode 201), "Halloween: Resurrection" (Episode 202), and "Halloween" (the Rob Zombie reimagining, Episode 304).
