Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast

Hi EMTs, good news/bad news situation: Bad news, we recorded a whole episode on the 2016 film "Split" and then the goddamn computer lost the file. Good news: we recorded a Patreon episode recently about the Nic Cage vehicle "National Treasure" which feels like a somewhat comparable trade. We'll be back next week with a new episode on "Split" and hey, maybe the jokes will be better the second time around! Thanks for your patience.

In this week's episode, we're watching a vampire movie chosen by the PatrĂ³ns and it just happens to be set in and filmed in the seedy city of Pittsburgh, PA! It's 1992's "Innocent Blood." Special topics for your consideration include: bars that aren't there anymore, an absolutely batshit cast, a side of Robert Loggia we'd never seen before, and the most hometown movie we've ever covered (and that includes our Patreon episodes on both "Striking Distance" and "The Dark Knight Rises."

Vampires! They are everywhere! Maybe just go listen to Episode 355- "Twilight" because lol.

In this week's episode, we're discussing the utterly silly 1989 Wes Craven film, "Shocker." Special topics for your consideration include: your foster kid, confusing police work, a double dip into the world of blue collar workers being murderers, and absolutely doubting "true love."

Get into our Wes Craven catalogue! You've got Episode 4- "Nightmare on Elm Street," Episode 44- Scream," Episode 138- "The People Under the Stairs," Episode 228- "Scre4m," Episode 242- "Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors," Episode 278- Scr3am," Episode 362- "Wes Craven's New Nightmare," and finally Episode 391- "Scream 2." In this week's episode, we're discussing the 1979 rendition of "Dracula" that features the 1970s' most unlikely fuckboy, Frank Langella. Wowwww. Special topics for your consideration include: getting all the spackle off your face and/or neck, interchangeable ladies' names that are decidedly not interchangeable based on a classic of gothic literature, seeing to your comfort, Donald Pleasance doing what he does best (being Donald Pleasance), and the hornier heights of Francis Ford Coppola.

Please feel free to go listen to us discuss Allen's favorite Dracula in "Bram Stoker's Dracula" (Episode 110) or my favorite Dracula (lol jk) in Episode 317- "Dracula 2000." Just for good measure, please check out Episode 355- "Twilight" and know that I have offered to cover another movie from the franchise and Allen has outright refused. Take it up with him.

Special topics for your consideration include: a lil bit of Pinhead, butts on the water (fire in the sky), the long-reaching tentacles of trauma, useless husbands, and great practical effects.

We've now covered quite a bit of director David Bruckner's work. You can hear us discuss it in Episode 167- The Ritual, Episode 402- "Hellraiser," and Episode 436- "V/H/S."

Oh my god, EMTs. Don Dohler was a genius and an American treasure and his catalog should be far more celebrated. In this week's episode, we're discussing his 1982 absolute masterpiece of trash, "Nightbeast." Special topics for your consideration include: Baltimore accents that sound lovely to our Western PA ears, being a flannelman, a top 5 weird sex scene in WWA history, and the return of two characters that one of us loved.

Please go listen to Episode 178- "The Alien Factor" for more of Don Dohler's work. It's exquisite.

In this week's episode, we're discussing a movie that so many of you have requested that we cover, and we're left asking the big questions like...why? Special topics for your consideration include: great actors and...not-so-great actors, solid discmen, being a book boy, the very concept of casino school, Chekov's peanut butter, and babies being at fault for truly everything.

I dunno guys. What did you see in this one?? If you'd like to hear us discuss other movies that yinz liked that we didn't, you can listen to Episode 441- "The Autopsy of Jane Doe" or Episode 473- "Drag Me to Hell." I am sure there are others but frankly, I couldn't bring myself to scroll through them all.

This week, in true Werewolf Ambulance style, we're diving headfirst into a film series by beginning somewhere in the middle: we're discussing the 1985 George Romero film "Day of the Dead." Special topics for your consideration include: having a very shitass day at work, fantastic practical effects, a film of Pittsburgh royalty, comparisons to "Short Circuit," an absolutely bananas score, and an ode to my neighbor and yours but actually mine Tom Savini.

If there was a Pittsburgh Mt. Rushmore, you'd better bet George Romero would be on it (and not that asshole Andy Warhol). Catch his other films that we've covered in Episodes 21 and 249- "Creepshow" and "Creepshow 2," respectively, and Episode 137- "Monkey Shines."

In this week's episode, we're discussing the schlockiest of 80s schlock and loving every second of it with the 1986 supernatural (?) haunted house (??) movie (???) "Spookies." Special topics for your consideration include: the joining of two movies into one, being unclear on people's relationships with one another, Duke the horny ghost, and some of the most fun and most dookie special effects we've ever seen.

This movie came recommended to "fans of 'Chopping Mall'" so I absolutely must suggest you go listen to that episode-- it's Episode 174.

In this week's episode, we're making lemonade out of Xenu with the 2017 Tom Cruise reboot of "The Mummy." Uuuuunnngggghhhh. Special topics for your consideration include: what happens when Tom Cruise ceases to be charming, being mad at the Dark Universe while having only a very cursory understanding of what it is, pity for Jake Johnson, more Law & Order alums, and some mummies, zombies, action sequences that manage to be deeply boring, and unfathomable romance (this fucker has it all).

Haha Tom Cruise sucks. He was also in Episode 76, titled "????" from when we used to remember to do April Fool's episodes (it's "Days of Thunder" which is actually a great movie and don't let anyone tell you otherwise) and Episode 190- "Interview with the Vampire."

In this week's episode, we dig deep into the world of police work in the 1988 film "Maniac Cop." Special topics for your consideration include: Is Tom Atkins hot? Does Tom Atkins fuck a young beautiful woman? Does Tom Atkins pull off a weird trench coat look? (My answers are no/no/sorta, yeah!) And guys listen. You know we tend to have an ACAB stance on our show, so if you're gonna get salty and feel the need to reach out to us about it, please do me a favor and just don't.

In this week's episode, we finally break down and let my cousin and yours (but mostly mine) Joe come on the podcast as a guest. We're discussing his pick, the 1954 "Godzilla." If you've not seen it yet, watch the subtitled Japanese language version and not the English dubbed version. Special topics for your consideration include: a real emotional roller coaster of a film, the problems with having two boyfriends, each of us choosing the saddest scene in the movie, and a heated debate about the creature design.

We love creature films! Well, some of them we hated. Find out which by listening to Episode 24- "Grabbers," Episode 135- "Creature from the Black Lagoon," Episode 148- "The Wolf Man," Episode 167- "The Ritual," Episode 184- "Tremors," Episode 219- "Attack of the Crab Monsters," or Episode 375- "Rawhead Rex."

In this week's episode, we're discussing the brand new 2024 prequel "The First Omen." Yes, a prequel to that "The Omen." Special topics for your consideration include: some real extreme blasphemy as we go deep on Catholicism, a few spicy questions about what ol' Jesus is willing to do, trying and failing to upgrade our vocabulary to that of the times, and one of the absolute funniest hot-dogs-on-the-outside moments we have ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

We have covered a few entries in "The Omen" franchise: Episode 77 is the original, Episode 406 is the bafflingly named "Damien: The Omen 2." We'd also be remiss in talking about a prequel without mentioning our absolute favorite, "Orphan: First Kill" (Episode 399) and its corresponding original, Episode 395.

Hey guys, we're taking a vacation next week to celebrate our nation's independence. There's gonna be a lot of hot dogs on the outside and I'm gonna eat them. We'll see you in two weeks.

In this week's episode, we decided to ask our PatrĂ³ns to suggest some queer-friendly horror films, and many of them mentioned the 2022 film "Bodies Bodies Bodies." In this week's episode, we're living through yet another zombie apocalypse with the 2009 horror comedy "Zombieland." Special topics for your consideration include: a fitting tribute to an American treasure, controversial takes on snack cakes, our feelings on Columbus (both the city and the person), keeping up one's everyday makeup routine during the apocalypse, and the delights of Woody Harrelson.

Zombies! We've covered so many zombie movies that I can't list them all here, so maybe just go scope out "Return of the Living Dead" (Episode 17) and "Return of the Return of the Living Dead" (Episode 339) where I thought it was possible that maybe I was too hard on it the first time, so we gave it another go.

Hey EMTs, Allen and I have always been pretty open about our mental health with you, and unfortunately this week we just were not in the headspace to make jokes about "The Sacrament," the really very good 2013 Ti West film about the Jonestown massacre. We recorded about 18 minutes of content and they were shit; we tried eating Oreos and even that didn't help. Sometimes things just have to hit the cutting room floor. Don't come for us.

All that being said, we hope you enjoy this episode from our action movie Patreon-only podcast covering "Mad Max: Fury Road" and we'll be back on the main cast again next week with "Zombieland."

Oh! and "The Sacrament" is a 9 from both of us, Sour Patch Kids Oreos are an absolute 0. Good lord.

Katie is on vacation so you get a rare Allen write up. This week's movie a low for a time known as a horror deadzone. But we make the most of it and bring you over an hour of yuck yucks.

Special topics include: being a poor man's Ethan Hawke. Why is it so dark? Why is it so wet? Unwanted advertisements. When a movie tried to be every other movie.

You know where to find us. Tell your friends. Thank you all for being the best. We truly appreciate you all.

In this week's episode, we're visiting arguably one of the worst eras of horror with the 2003 crossover movie "Freddy vs. Jason." Special topics for your consideration include: a new patron saint of Werewolf Ambulance, quibbling with a quippy villain, stupid characters being utterly unable to fly under the radar, Jason's regrets when he thinks about his past, and another absolutely lovely voicemail.

My god, we've done so many of these movies. Friday the 13th: Episodes 32,117,141, 259, 277, and 449. A Nightmare on Elm Street: 4, 121, 242, 337, and 362. Knock yerselves out.

In this week's episode, we reminisce about our times as punks on the road in the 2020 horror comedy "Uncle Peckerhead." Special topics for your consideration include: a lot of tour stories, poor band to band etiquette, dreaming about playing with Queef Queens, a stellar voicemail, and revisiting the crucible that formed our real-life friendship (a grown ass man booing a 22 year old woman. It all worked out, obvs!)

Want to hear about more punks that aren't us? Try Episode 292- "Green Room."

In this week's episode, we're discussing a brand-new film that has had the internet abuzz-- 2024's "Late Night with the Devil." Special topics for your consideration include: Katie's great new ideas for a one woman show along with some new employment opportunities, Allen dropping knowledge on ye olde television shows, loosely factual historical nonsense, and a demon whose name might be a demon and miiiight be a medication for lactose intolerance.

Do you like modern horror movies that are set in the 1970s (I know, kind of grasping at straws here because this movie is fairly dissimilar to most of the other ones we've covered)? You may enjoy Episode 96- "The Conjuring," Episode 175- "House of 1000 Corpses," Episode 268- "The Love Witch," Episode 282- "The Amityville Horror" (Ryan Reynolds version), Episode 286- "Knife + Heart," Episode 394- "Black Phone," and Episode 396- "X."

In this week's episode, we check in with our friend and yours but mostly Allen's, Lucio Fulci, and his 1983 sword-and-sandal horror film "Conquest." Holy ghost. Special topics for your consideration include: the most Vaseline you've ever seen, cute lil baby lapdog werewolves, eating brains through a slit in a mask (like you do), laser arrows, learning to love and be loved, and the grossest thing since maggot phone.

LUCIO! We love the man so much, we put him on a semi-insulting t-shirt featuring the artwork of the inimitable Justin Gray (get it at https://www.teepublic.com/user/werewolfambulance)
Even if you don't want that-- and why would you not?-- you can still listen to all our Fulci episodes from the past: Episode 72- "The Beyond," Episode 227- "Zombi 2," Episode 281- "City of the Living Dead," and Episode 388- "The House by the Cemetery."

In this week's episode, we're going back to a question that has haunted me for years: did I actually see a good movie about scarecrows years ago, or was it all a dream? A number of you have suggested that it might be the 1988 film "Scarecrows," so here we are. Special topics for your consideration include: bad piloting, bad paramilitary-ing, bad locations, bad plans, good hair, good scarecrows, and your future World Series-winning Pittsburgh Pirates, obviously.

This is the fourth entry into our hunt for THE scarecrow movie: the others are Episode 237- "Scarecrow" (this is a SyFy channel original film and hoo boy that was a mistake), Episode 334- "Husk," and Episode 386- "Dark Night of the Scarecrow."

In this week's episode, IT'S ALLEN'S BIRTHDAY and it's a biggie, so we're letting him pick whatever he wants. We'll be discussing the 1999 intersection of many of his interests, "The 13th Warrior." Special topics for your consideration include: what makes a good D&D movie, a very brief re-telling of "Beowulf," the Omar Sharif cool factor, religious loopholes, and some Viking lore.

I legitimately can't think of another movie we've done to compare to this one, so I maybe we'll go with the literature angle: Episode 110- "Bram Stoker's Dracula."

Other topics for your consideration include: Michael Ironside doing the heavy lifting, dudes talking, various brands of margarine, more dudes talking, Dr. Ruth's legacy, not being able to tell apart the dudes that just keep talking, and the use of AI in the production of this podcast.

We just covered another Cronenberg film recently: Episode 456- "Rabid." Catch his other movies in Episode 88- "Shivers," Episode 103- "The Fly," Episode 177- "The Brood," and Episode 442- "Videodrome."

In this week's episode, we're hanging out in one of our favorite genres: weird Italian shit of the 1970s! We've got the 1979 alien/jesus/horror cult classic "The Visitor." Also, someone call the authorities because somehow Allen has sold me on the aforementioned weird Italian shit and made me love it.

Special topics for your consideration include: the most beautiful blonde Jesus, ropey toes, Spaghetti House, fantastic Southern accents, pizzeria incidents, buying a child a raptor, and green screens for daaaays.

You wanna see more Franco Nero? You may like him as the sexiest Pope in Episode 444- "The Pope's Exorcist" AND THERE'S GONNA BE THREE MORE, HALLELUJAH, THANK YOU POPE FRANCO NERO. In the meantime, please enjoy this blast from the past with the re-release of our episode from 2016, "IT" (the 1990 miniseries). In this week's episode, Katie 'celebrates' a milestone birthday with a gift for Allen: the 1980 Dario Argento film "Inferno." It's pretty much exactly what you might expect. Special topics for your consideration include: bakery smells, really enjoying just getting into a weird hole, refusing to move a camera, Great Depression beds, and late night hot dogs.

LISTENER WARNING: there is some real gross animal cruelty in this movie, so please don't watch it if you won't be able to un-see it.

DARIO! What a nutbar. We have been celebrating his catalog for years:  Episode 23- "Suspiria," Episode 84- "Demons," Episode 185- "Deep Red," Episode 306- "Tenebrae," Episode 325- "The Bird with the Crystal Plumage," Episode 369- "Phenomena," and Episode 445- "Opera."

In this week's episode, voted on by our PatrĂ³ns, we watched the 2023 horror-comedy "Slotherhouse." Special topics for your consideration include: two middle-aged people who just don't get the kids these days, facts(ish) about some animals, questions about Greek life, a tale of a future Hall of Famer who definitely fucks (allegedly), and an absolute delight of a Mailbag!

Do you like horror movies where an animal is the bad guy? Allow us to recommend Episode 37- "Zombeavers," Episode 41- "The Last Shark (L'ultimo Squalo)," Episode 137- "Monkey Shines," Episode 152- "Anaconda," Episode 168- "Arachnophobia," Episode 193- "Orca," Episode 214- "Congo," Episode 218- "Cujo," Episode 238- "Frogs," Episode 247- "Piranha," Episode 248- "Grizzly," Episode 289- "Crawl," Episode 447- "Cocaine Bear," and I'm certain I have missed a few in there. Animals can be such assholes sometimes.

In this week's episode, we are washing the taste of "A Castle for Christmas" from our mouths with something that honestly *might* be worse: the 2014 entry into the "Conjuring" universe, "Annabelle." Jesus. Special topics for your consideration include: hanging onto an American accent for everything you're worth, meeting a demon's cousin, some super subtle thoughts about Ed & Lorraine Warren, bits of every single other horror movie ever made, being a ghostbuster, and sacrifices or something.

James Wan, COME ON. You can hear us discuss his work our episodes on "The Conjuring" series: Episode 96 (the OG) and Episode 33 (the sequel). And for good measure, why don't you also listen to Episode 303- "Insidious" because I am half-sure they are all the same movie. And if you're really into some Wan stuff, you can listen to Episode 418- "The Nun."

Hi EMTs! The thing is, I am very drunk on my cousin Vicky's husband's fantastic eggnog so I can't really do a write-up, but Allen & I hope you have a wonderful holiday season with this year's Christmas episode, the 2022 film "Violent Night."

That being said, we know the holidays can be hard for folks, and we want you to know that you are not alone. You are NEVER alone. We are here for you, the EMTs are here for you at https://discord.com/invite/DutFjx3cBD, and if you need a friend, reach out at werewolfambulance@gmail.com. In this week's episode, chosen by our top tier PatrĂ³ns, we're thinking, "didn't we just talk about this movie?" But we didn't! It's the 2021 Nic Cage film "Willy's Wonderland" and NOT a "Twilight" movie because our PatrĂ³ns, lovely as they are, are COWARDS. Special topics for your consideration include: the return of teens who cannot act their way out of a paper bag, a brand new game, the motivations of Nic Cage, new Call of Cthulhu character names, and so many video games!

You a big Nic Cage fan? OF COURSE YOU ARE. You can catch him in Episode 74- "Pay the Ghost," Episode 108- "The Wicker Man," Episode 240- "Mandy, Episode 438- "Renfield,"" and if you search for "Vacation Episode" in our library, you'll find "Face/Off," which was a Patreon episode that made it into the main feed (April 2021).

Special topics for your consideration include: the question of where boobs begin and end, things we know and do not know about plastic surgery and also rabies, Montreal weather, and a classic cast of Cronenbergian characters such as Claude LaPointe and Dr. Dan Keloid.

What a lovable nutbar. Catch his other movies Episode 88- "Shivers," Episode 103- "The Fly," Episode 177- "The Brood," and Episode 442- "Videodrome."

Listen, EMTs. There's a thing that happens to us towards the end of the year that makes us feel like we are on some kind of vacation though we are very aware that we're not. Regardless, we're acting like it this week with the brand new Blumhouse production "Five Nights at Freddy's" and as a result, you're getting a variety of digressions: baseball players of yesteryear, fast food restaurants of yesteryear, cell phones of yesteryear, sleepytime drinks of yesteryear, and, you know, talking about this movie.

Wanna hear some other Blumhouse episodes? Just this year we've had Episode 421- "M3gan" on our own feed and "The Exorcist: Believer" which you can hear over on the God Awful Movies feed. We've also loved a number of other Blumhouse films, such as Episode 124- "Get Out," Episode 293- "Happy Death Day," and Episode 322- "Freaky."

1986, baby! We've covered so many films from this year and here are a few of my favorites-- Episode 35- "Neon Maniacs," Episode 103- "The Fly," Episode 174- "Chopping Mall," Episode 199- "Terrorvision (THE LIVE SHOW)," Episode 213: "Poltergeist II: The Other Side," and Episode 375- "Rawhead Rex."

In this week's episode, we're hitting yet another new movie-- this year's supernatural horror film "Talk to Me." Special topics for your consideration include: whatever drugs teens are on, the horror wars and who is winning them, when being the cool mom meets being a responsible adult, and Australia: why you do this to us??

Australian horror is cool and scary and sad and weird, in our experience. You might enjoy Episode 11- "The Babadook", Episode 89- "Queen of the Damned" (oddly enough, it's lightly Australian!), Episode 255- "Lake Mungo," or Episode 266- "The Loved Ones." If that's not enough for you, head south east to New Zealand for Episode 78- "Housebound" and Episode 195- "What We Do in the Shadows."

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, EMTs! In this week's episode, we finally ascend to the pinnacle of spooky season-- and what better way to celebrate than digging into the 6th film in the endless franchise, "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers," from a time when horror was notoriously excellent: the mid-1990s. Special topics for your consideration include: Paul Stephen Rudd (America's boyfriend), Mama's Family, utterly forgettable leads, a posthumous dedication to a horror legend, an attempt to draw a "Halloween" family tree and SO MUCH baby stress.

1995 was a funny year. You can hear us talk about it in Episode Episode 214- "Congo," Episode 257- "Se7en," and Episode 272-  "Village of the Damned."

Special topics for your consideration include: sidepipes, thighlights, and an utter lack of the titty bell, a fight over the pronunciation of the word "aunt," James Earl Jones' dad, good shirts, great insults, fantastic cursing, and more adult teens than you can shake a stick at!

Summer camps are fun, right? We dunno, we never went to them except for Episode 141- "Friday the 13th," Episode 182- "Final Girls," and Episode 344- "Fear Street Part Two: 1978."

Special topics for your consideration include: SO MANY hot dogs on the outside, good gore, useless cops in a new locale, being an asshole but also a stupid asshole, a solid appreciation for Martin Starr, and a bit of soccer hooliganism. Also I very much lost my voice by the end of this recording and I apologize for that.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Welcome to spooky season, babies, and this year we are doing a full month of party movies-- the kind of movie you can watch with a crowd and yell at the scream. Party movie month kicks off with a strong entrant, the 2023 film "Cocaine Bear." Special topics for your consideration include: rethinking athletic training supplements, those weird 2 foot pixie stix, a smattering of potty talk, Avery Jessup, fingerblocking, and an enormous amount of joy courtesy of a listener.

In the absence of other horror movies about drugs (I can't think of any that we've done!) please enjoy the work of O'Shea Jackson Sr., aka Ice Cube in Episode 152- "Anaconda."

Special topics for your consideration include: a very "X-Files" era, the repeated deaths of Macauley Culkin, hunky television actors, being the guy hanging out with the girls who catcall the postman, angels/demons/whatever, and advice that *might* actually be right for a change!

War is horrific and has thus inspired some really great and some  really terrible horror movies. You may or may not enjoy Episode 93- "Ravenous," Episode 187- "Dog Soldiers," and Episode 223- "Curse of the Cannibal Confederates."

Special topics for your consideration include: more dream logic, letting birds solve a crime, getting fed up with being murdered, finding new ways into the dating scene, and DANIELE SOAVE!

We love Dario Argento, I think? Perhaps for different reasons though. You can hear us discuss his work in Episode 23- "Suspiria," Episode 84- "Demons," Episode 185- "Deep Red," Episode 306- "Tenebrae," Episode 325- "The Bird with the Crystal Plumage," and Episode 369- "Phenomena."

Look, I know that I have said it so often on this show that it has lost all meaning (did it ever have meaning?) but this week, it's a spi-cy meeeat-a-baaaaall! Holy ghost, literally. We are tackling the 2023 Russell-Crowe-as-an-Italian film "The Pope's Exorcist." Special topics for your consideration include: Crappy teens, possessed kids who just aren't Regan (can they even tap dance?!), Italian doctors living and working in Spain, the absolution of all the Catholic Church's sins, an extremely sexy pope, and a reminder that in most international settings, Americans are the worst.

Exorcisms are a mainstay in horror, and horror is a mainstay in us. Check out Episode 90- "Amityville II: The Possession," Episode 155- "The Exorcist," Episode 216- "The Devil Inside Her" in which there is an exorcism of an extremely strong baby, my god what a fantastic film, and Episode 367- "The Last Exorcism."

In this week's episode, we're pretending that we know our way around the internet with the 2018 creepypasta-inspired film "Slender Man." It's a doozy. Special topics for your consideration include: a reconsidering of Jamiroquai, allowing middle-aged men to write teenage girl characters despite not now nor ever having been one, worrying about Abercrombie Tom's plotline, and the real question...does Slenderman have a weiner? DOES HE?

It turns out that several feature films have been made based on creepypasta but this is our first. We did reference both "Bye Bye Man" and "Empty Man" in this episode, so go listen to those if you'd like-- Episodes 324 and 357 respectively.

Hi EMTs, Katie here. I had a rough week and was not able to record, so Allen and I decided to re-release one of our all-time favorite episodes: the absolutely wackadoo Nic Cage remake of "The Wicker Man." We hope you enjoy it and we'll be back next week with "Slenderman," we promise.

In this week's episode, we're discussing the intersection of media commentary and tummy vaginas with the 1983 David Cronenberg cult classic "Videodrome." Special topics for your consideration include: DEBBIE HARRY!, making it a pee-pee (whatever it may be), sexy ear piercing, physics-defying Betamax, the prophecies of Mr. Cronenberg and the strangest of trade shows.

We've covered a few of Cronenberg's films in the past: Episode 88- "Shivers," Episode 103- "The Fly," and Episode 177- "The Brood." We've also gushed over Debbie Harry once before: Episode 132- "Tales from the Darkside."

In this week's episode, we're talking about the very creepy and very emotional 2022 slasher "Pearl." Special topics for your consideration include: the ease of making major life decisions, some more terrible life advice from your pals here at Werewolf Ambulance, baby Brendan Fraser, misunderstood biology, and a veritable smorgasbord of things we like: familial drama! scarecrows! dry humping! dance numbers! maggot pigs! Truly everything we could want.

This is it, we have decided that we are all in on Ti West. You can catch his other work with the film that spawned this prequel, "X" (Episode 396), along with Episode 172- "House of the Devil" and one segment in Episode 436- "V/H/S." Also I would have bet my life that we had already covered "The Innkeepers" but... apparently not.

In this week's episode, we're back to the well of one of our favorite madmen, Charles Band, with the 1993 film "Puppet Master 4." It's exactly what you expect in all the right ways. Special topics for your consideration include: a ska news minute, high highs and low lows of puppets and animation, sexy (?) outfits of the 1990s, DECAPITRON, and the utter befuddlement that is trying to make sense of a Puppet Master film. Plus: a delight of a voicemail.

Have we done "Puppet Master" and "Puppet Master 2," you ask? Of course we have: Episodes 164 and 165. Have we done "Puppet Master 3," you ask? No, of course we fucking haven't, then we may have understood the plot of this movie. Maybe.

You can catch our other Nic Cage movies: Episode 74- "Pay the Ghost," Episode 108- "The Wicker Man," Episode 240- "Mandy" and if you search for "Vacation Episode" in our library, you'll find "Face/Off," which was a Patreon episode that made it into the main feed (April 2021).

Hey folks, just a few audio issues in this one (we record two episodes at once-- did you know this? It's a very well-kept secret) but all future episodes should be good to go. 437 episodes in, a mic cable gets worn out, ya see?

In this week's episode, we're discussing the 2022 religious horror film "The Offering" in which we try to be as respectful as we can about other folks' cultures while being devoutly anti-religion ourselves and also, pretty curious as to how much Yiddish one can adopt into their day-to-day. Other topics for your consideration include: unacceptable ways to sleep, that guy I like from British crime dramas, what all GenX-ers and Millenials really want, what happens when a film veers towards the Wan-iverse but rights the ship with a goddamn goatman, and perhaps the perfect end to an episode.

Interested in Jewish horror? You might enjoy Episode 327- "The Vigil." Interested in that guy I like from British crime dramas? He was in "Anna and the Apocalypse," Episode 409 and I know, I know, his name is Paul Kaye but he'll always be that guy for me.

Just a quick note, we apologize for some minor sound issues in this episode. We've got a faulty mic cable and didnt realize it until we began editing.

In this week's episode, we're discussing an anthology for the first time in awhile! It's the oft-requested 2012 film "V/H/S." Special topics for your consideration include: a whole slew of brand new advertisers who are absolutely not giving us their money to discuss their product, one of us sharing way too much personal grooming information (see the previous item in this list), a bunch of directors that we really like, calling your partner by a pet name in a disgruntled way, and the pleasure of watching shitty dudes get their comeuppance.

We goddamn love an anthology: Episode 21- "Creepshow," Episode 61- "Trick r Treat," Episode 102- "Holidays," Episode 132- "Tales from the Darkside," Episode 178- "Twilight Zone: The Movie," Episode 249- "Creepshow 2," Episode 302- "Verotika," and Episode 368- "Tales from the Hood."

Special topics for your consideration include: a veritable sea of Australians, hailing from a soldering family, reactions to priests, mom sadness, "Dream Child," and so much barfing. SO much barfing!

We've covered two other films in the series: the original in Episode 280 and "Army of Darkness" in Episode 229. They are predictably out of order and we still haven't done the second one.

In this week's episode, we're going back to a WWA-favorite era of the late 1980s with the supernatural/demonic possession film "976-EVIL." Special topics for your consideration include: when your phone's autofill function tries to predict "your thing," an unexpected sessy moment, having your directorial debut and your swan song be the same film (sorry Robert Englund), and a whole ass host of 1980s teen horror tropes: old teens, hot principals, religious moms, kids with insane names, movie punks (or at least punk-adjacent), evil quips, panty thefts & so much more! Or less. It might actually be less.

1988 was a hell of a year for horror movies, and we've seen a lot of them (say what you will about us, but we are certainly thorough).
Tease your hair, put on your Guns n Roses tee and settle in for Episode 32- "Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood," Episode 36- "Waxwork," Episode 50- "The Blob," Episode 137- "Monkey Shines," Episode 140- "Killer Klowns from Outer Space," Episode 192- "Night of the Demons," Episode 205- "Hellraiser II," Episode 225- "Beetlejuice," Episode 231- "Child's Play," Episode 265- "Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-o-Rama," Episode 283- "Elvira: Mistress of the Dark," Episode 314- "Phantasm 2," Episode 343- "Black Roses," Episode 383- "Hack-O-Lantern," Episode 401- "Halloween 4, and finally" Episode 404- "They Live." Holy ghost.

In this week's episode, we're enjoying the company of one of our patron saints, Natasha Lyonne, with the 2010 comedy/slasher "All About Evil." Special topics for your consideration include: breaking news to us that you have all been aware of for like... 2 weeks, perfect homages, more questionable parenting and--good lord--the posters in this child's room, bejeweled flip phones, the true power move of smoking wherever the fuck you want, and a special message from our AI overlords.

Our girl Natasha Lyonne also appeared in Episode 134- "#Horror" which is a movie that I remember almost nothing about. You can catch Cassandra Peterson in Episode 238- "Elvira: Mistress of the Dark," and while Jack Donner has appeared in a few of the "Puppet Master" films, he hasn't been in any of the ones we've covered (Episodes 164 and 165, which are 1 and 2, respectively. In this week's champagne-soaked episode, we're revisiting one of our favorite franchises with the 1991 film "Child's Play 3." Special topics for your consideration include: deep metaphors, what happens when you make a movie in like a month, a shocking lack of knowledge about the US military, weird hands, and a real cause for celebration (next week's episode contains the second cause for celebration reported on June 8, 2023 when we recorded this).

CHUCKY! Naturally we covered the sequel first (Episode 28) and the original film second (Episode 231) with the remake coming in appropriately third, in Episode 287. We also covered "Bride of Chucky" in Episode 356. What a lovable scamp!

Special topics for your consideration include: a movie that isn't the one you remembered and certainly not the one you wanted, the grossest you'll ever see Vincent Price behave, hair concerns, horse concerns, and a whole bunch of bonus content.

Special topics for your consideration include: having very shallow memories when it comes to the last two installments of this series, stanning our short kings and queens...of law enforcement? and also a quick PSA on where it is and is not acceptable to tag "ACAB," Dermot Mulroney!, and our slow descent into madness.

We have covered all the "Scream" movies! That's either an accomplishment or a reason to seek therapy. They are: the original in Episode 44, "Scre4m" in Episode 228, "Scr3am" in Episode 278, "Scream 5[?]" in Episode 374, and "Scream 2" in Episode 391. Just looking at the order in which we covered these movies makes me very happy.

In this week's episode, we're tackling a movie that (spoiler alert!) we both love a lot: it's the 2000 Japanese film "Battle Royale." Special topics for your consideration include: butt slashing, trusting adults, the fact that this movie might be a comedy?, fantastic death scenes, and the sad fact of knowing everything we know about other cultures from terrible 80s movies.

Into Japanese horror? We've covered shockingly little of it! We've done "Hausu" in Episode 115 and the remake of "The Ring" (no longer Japanese, I know) way back in Episode 98. Do you have a favorite Japanese film you'd like us to discuss? Let us know!

In this week's episode, we're digging into some post-"Texas Chainsaw Massacre," pre-"Poltergeist" Tobe Hooper in the 1981 slasher "The Funhouse." Special topics of conversation include: some minor societal red flags like teens dating people in their 30s and allowing a stranger to wash your child (?!), utterly amazing 1980s slang that perhaps didn't catch on, the Delaware state fair, terrible last words, and a very fun AMA with some listeners!

We've never discussed "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" because it's a perfect movie and there's not much to be funny about, but we HAVE discussed its raucous sequel "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2" in Episode 56, along with "Poltergeist" in Episode 212.

Hello EMTs! I'm on vacation this week so instead of writing up a bunch of jokes about the movie, I am just going to say that in addition to your Pittsburgh baseball Pirates currently sitting in first place, Dave Bautista wearing people clothes is my absolute favorite thing to happen in 2023. Come along with us on this journey of the newest film from our boy and yours but mostly yours, M. Night Shyamalan.

We have spent a lot of time with ol' M. Night. You can catch his films in Episode 12- "The Happening," Episode 157- "The Sixth Sense," Episode 169- "The Village," and Episode 363- "Old."

In this week's episode, we're unable to find a decently reliable streaming version of listener-requested film "The Others," so we took the next best Nicole Kidman option: the 2013 psychological thriller "Stoker." It's a movie about vampires... OR IS IT?! Special topics for your consideration include: weird familial relationships,  Allen's concern about finding one's "thing," chasing that disgust dragon, lifeless mannequin eyes, and the fleshing out of our new podcast idea, "Murder Nut."

If you want more Nicole Kidman, please please go back and listen to Episode 76, cleverly titled "???? (1990)" because it is "Days of Thunder" and hoo boy what a perfect film. Right? Of course you agree.

In this week's episode, we're questioning why Ethan Hawke loves being in movies about dead children so much with the 2012 supernatural thriller "Sinister." Special topics for your consideration include: making a whole ass movie about wandering your house in the dark while wearing lounge pants, being a whiner about coffee, being a shit husband and a shittier dad, actors you know from every other conceivable things, and the problem with true crime.

Do you enjoy seeing Ethan Hawke act against dead children? You may enjoy Episode 394- "The Black Phone." Do you enjoy Vincent D'Onofrio doing whatever he wants? Then we'd suggest Episode 133- "The Cell." True crime fan? Apparently we covered "The Town that Dreaded Sundown" in Episode 49, but it's the remake and not even the original. Still, true story!

In this week's episode, we're headed back to the weird and wonderful world of Charles Band with the 1994 film "Shrunken Heads." Special topics for your consideration include: adult teens, a lesson in Haitian history, Meg Foster in the role of a lifetime, inappropriate jauntiness, nepotism babies, and condominiums,

Charles Band is a nutbar and I love him (almost all the time). Here are some movies he's had his hands in: Episode 156- "Gingerdead Man," Episode 164- "Puppet Master," Episode 165- "Puppet Master 2," Episode 171- "Ghoulies," Episode 186- "Tourist Trap," Episode 199- "Terrorvision (the live show!)" and Episode 354- "Dolls," a movie I completely forgot existed until I started this write-up and now I am delighted all over again.

Special topics for your consideration include: our feelings on the upcoming robot overlord takeover, an allegory for....teenagers?, parenting advice, a throwback to the finest film ever made ("Child's Play 2" of course), and how this film fits into the oft-discussed Wan-iverse. And hey, if you're joining us as a new listener, welcome! We are very glad you're here.

Dudes, it's 420! We're celebrating by hanging with our friend Perry and discussing his pick, the 2018 sci-fi horror film "Annihilation." In the grand tradition of Werewolf Ambulance, though, it was not quite the movie he remembered. This is what they get for not letting me watch "Bong of the Dead," seriously! Special topics for your consideration include: wondering whether this movie is a metaphor for drugs or just sadness, exhaustion as a character choice, dealing with the consequences of not knowing a thing, and of course, weed.

420 baby! Thanks for sticking with us though so many ridiculous episodes-- we are truly grateful for all of yinz. We're going to be off next week for a lil break, but you can catch us TOMORROW as special guests on the God Awful Movies podcast (Episode 395- "The Exorcist 2: The Heretic.")

The only other thing I want to hype this week is Perry! Catch him on Episode 55- "Silence of the Lambs" and all of his stunning art on Instagram @smoking_joe_studio or on his website http://www.smokingjoestudio.com

In this week's episode, we're discussing the 2020 supernatural horror film "The Dark and the Wicked," aka "An Extremely Allen Movie." Special topics for your consideration include: two very different schools of thought when it comes to handling one's emotions, chasing that old scare dragon, the hardness of farm folk (particularly compared to how baby-soft we are), and a delightfully Pittsburgh voicemail.

If you liked this movie, you'll probably love Episode 255- "Lake Mungo." We've also dealt with themes of grief in Episode 11- "The Babadook," Episode 47- "Don't Look Now," Episode 116- "The Descent," Episode 159- "Pet Sematary," Episode 224- "Hereditary," and Episode 270- "Midsommar."

Special topics for your consideration include: a case of mistaken identity, rewriting The Replacements lyrics to be about prayer, an extremely graphic depiction of the monetization of this film, and even more controversial opinions that will likely alienate our listenership!

Did you miss our episodes on "The Conjuring" series? They are Episode 96 (the OG) and Episode 33 (the sequel). And for good measure, why don't you also listen to Episode 303- "Insidious" because I am half-sure they are all the same movie?

Talking about corners, walls, ceilings, and the feet of children, trying to get a foothold in someone else's nightmare, and a very weird personalized license plate.

We've done a couple avant garde/arthouse style horror movies in the past. May we suggest Episode 115- "Hausu," Episode 194- "Santa Sangre," or Episode 240- "Mandy"? Also, does everything Lucio Fulci ever made count? If so, boy have we done a lot of those.

We've covered two Anya Taylor-Joy movies in the past (Episode 73- "The Witch" and Episode 319- "New Mutants" which is also a crossover with the 'Marveling at Marvel's Marvels podcast) and one Nicholas Hoult (Episode 267- "Warm Bodies.) Sorry no Ralph Fiennes.

Just...just trucks.

Stephen King villains are funny. I'm putting this up there with a handful of my other favorite bizarre horror movies of the 1980s- Episode 35- "Neon Maniacs," Episode 140- "Killer Klowns from Outer Space," Episode 174- "Chopping Mall," and Episode 265- "Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-o-Rama."

In this week's episode, we've got the much-anticipated annual romcom episode with the Lindsay Lohan/Chord Overstreet holiday vehicle "Falling for Christmas." Fantastic. Special topics for your consideration include: rich ski people, the utter delight that is Lindsay Lohan, the utterly unbelievable name that is CHord Overstreet, the concept of a 'flapjack daddy,' a few *small teeny tiny* plot holes in this otherwise-perfectly conceived and masterfully written film, and another much-anticipated event: another voicemail from Claudia.

Wanna hear our other romcom episodes? They are Episode 209- "Love Actually," Episode 261- "You've Got Mail," and Episode 361- "Miss Congeniality," but we also once went absolutely insane while in lockdown and spent the better part of three hours over two episodes discussing "Titanic." Frankly we needed a week off and, in the spirit of comfort & joy, we're leaving you with one of our all-time favorite episodes, "Over the Top." Stick around til the end to find out who won an arm wrestling match between us back in 2017.

We'll catch you all with renewed vigor next week for our fourth annual* New Year's romcom, "Falling for Christmas."

*it should have been our fifth, but one year we must really have had the holiday blues because we dropped the idea altogether and did "The Fate of the Furious." Geniuses.

Thanks for sticking with us, and be kind to each other and yourselves.

In this week's episode, we're giving our Discord channel (seriously, join us over there! https://discord.com/invite/DutFjx3cBD) what they wanted, and they wanted the 2017 Scottish zombie musical "Anna and the Apocalypse." Special topics for your consideration include: a lot of British television talk, Santa Claus: hot or not?, taking the time to talk about your feelings during an actual apocalypse, offensive things that we said about Blink 182 and also Jesus but we left them in the episode just for you, and what life would be like if the people around you just sometimes broke out into song? Yikes.

Into horror movies with some musical numbers? We've done two others: Episode 13- "The Phantom of the Paradise and Episode 389- "Repo! The Genetic Opera." And, not a musical, but please watch "The Alien Factor" (Episode 183) if only for the finest musical performance we've ever seen in a horror movie with the Baltimore-based band Atlantis playing a real banger, "Maybe Someday."

As 2022 winds to a close, we find ourselves returning to its well yet again with this week's movie, "Deadstream." Special topics for your consideration include: our limited knowledge of physics, the state of Utah, Mormonism, and actually lots of other things, feelings about poetry, brand new exclamations, Sam Elliott's sidepipe, and the fear that arises from seeing yourself in absolutely awful characters.

Let's do a 2022 rundown (even though we still have a Lohan Christmas movie from this year to get to!) We've kicked off with Episode 370- "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," then Episode 374- "Scream [5?]," Episode 381- "Firestarter," Episode 394- "The Black Phone," Episode 396- "X," Episode 399- "Orphan: First Kill," Episode 402- "Hellraiser," Episode 403- "Barbarian," and Episode 407- "Smile." It was a really fun year for horror and also, knowing about new things makes us feel young(ish) again.

In this week's episode, we're covering yet another highly-touted horror film of 2022-- "Smile." Special topics for your consideration include: the pros and cons of having resting contented face, various kinds of porn including trauma and also food, being tender yet masculine, backing yourself into a corner plot-wise, and weaving too many other movies into your movie.

To hear us talk about some of the other films we mention in this episode, you can check out Episode 26- "It Follows," Episode 98- "The Ring," Episode 224- "Hereditary," and just for fun, Episodes 99 and 382, "Final Destination" and "Final Destination 3" respectively (because of course we have not yet covered the second one, why would we do that?)

In this week's episode, we're talking about a terrifying and suspenseful look at the coming of the Antichrist. Just kidding, we're talking about "Damien: The Omen 2" from 1978. This movie is almost entirely about muddling through the doldrums of middle management. Other topics for your consideration include: rich people parties, actors we like from other things, Napoleon, fighting a crow, and bad corporate practices.

Did you like "The Omen"? So did we! It's Episode 77. Do you like Sylvia Sidney? She's Juno, the caseworker in Episode 225- "Beetlejuice." Big Lance Henriksen fan? PUMPKINHEAD, baby! It's Episode 57.

In this week's episode, we're concluding our pro wrestling rock block with the (barely) Mick Foley vehicle "12 Hour Shift." Special topics for your consideration include: playing a new WWA game that was created mostly for the use of its name, fancy shoes of the late 90s, a very serious question for morphine drinkers, David Arquette's crime compulsion, the best and most blasphemous places to eat your snack, and a very exciting announcement about our internet presence (www.werewolfambulance.com)!

Pro wrestling is cool. Check out Episode 80- "Predator" (Jesse Ventura), Episode 301- "Halloween" (Skywalker Nitron aka Tyler Mane in the Rob Zombie reimagining), Episode 311- "Girl on the Third Floor" (CM Punk), and Episode 404- "They Live" (Rowdy Roddy Piper).

In this week's episode, it's a listener pick! We're covering the 1988 'peak John Carpenter' film "They Live." Special topics for your consideration include: how far two fantastic leads can carry a film, the natural conclusion of the Reagan era, rull toothy faces, big ideas that leave some...unanswered questions, and our attempt to determine which actor has appeared in the most WWA movies without actually looking it up or doing any research or anything useful like that.

Interested in other 'peak JC'? Allen would have you believe that also includes Episode 79- "Prince of Darkness." You can also hear us discuss JC's other non-"Halloween" films in Episode 112- "Christine," Episode 129- "The Fog," Episode 142- "In the Mouth of Madness," and Episode 272- "Village of the Damned." We've also covered two of his action movies on our Patreon with "Big Trouble in Little China" and "Escape from New York" and I promise, you will not regret giving us your money with those ones.
