In this week's episode, we're discussing the movie that everyone is talking about-- or at least, everyone was talking about a few weeks ago? Frankly that is a pretty quick turnaround for old folks like us. Regardless, it's the 2022 film "Barbarian." WE ARE SPOILING THIS MOVIE, ONLY LISTEN TO THE EPISODE IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SEEN IT OR NEVER CARE TO SEE IT! Special topics for your consideration include: the delicate balance of creepy/hot, a not-very-flattering image of a region, weird house dreams, the vibe of Justin Long, the evergreen horror trope of useless cops, and the level to which we have desensitized ourselves to disturbing imagery. Whoops. You can get more Justin Long (if that was a thing you ever wanted) in Episode 181- "Tusk." You can get more Bill Skarsgård in the "It" series, Episodes 351 & 352. We've not seen Georgina Campbell in anything else, but here's to hoping we do! Would you like to tell us about things we're wrong about, things we're right about, or whatever is on your mind? HAPPY HALLOWEEN, EMTS!! We're so happy to be able to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with you all again. And by popular demand, this week we're discussing the 2022 reimagining of "Hellraiser." Special topics for your consideration include: a sad lack of sex with jeans on (RIP Uncle Frank), a twist that everyone saw coming, a need for more griminess, concern for safety in a thunderstorm, and obvs lots and lots of genital talk. We've devoted many hours of our lives to the "Hellraiser" franchise-- you can hear us discuss the original (Episode 51), "Hellraiser II: Hellbound" (Episode 205), and "Hellraiser: Bloodline" (Episode 262). EMTs, I am so incredibly excited for "Single White Female: the Musical" here in Pittsburgh at Bottlerocket on November 10th! If you're local, you do not want to miss this. In this week's episode, we're getting into the holiday spirit with the return of Michael Myers-- it's the 1988 entry into the Halloween franchise, "Halloween 4." Special topics for your consideration include: diminishing returns on the Michael Myers well, being perhaps overly honest with a child, wishing death upon your annoying colleague and having no one bat an eye, a thesis on the acting of Donald Pleasance, and prerequisites for the position of sheriff here in Haddonfield. We've covered a wide breadth of "Halloween" movies, most of them kinda bad: "Halloween III: Season of the Witch" (Episode 52), "Halloween H20" (Episode 201), "Halloween: Resurrection" (Episode 202), "Halloween" (the Rob Zombie reimagining, Episode 304), and "Halloween Kills" (Episode 353). EMTs, this is Episode 400. FOUR. HUNDRED. What kind of fun, special things can you expect in this episode as part of the celebration? Easy- NONE. We forgot. We completely forgot this milestone until we were done recording. Serious professionals here. Anyway, we hope you stick around for another 400 because we love you very much. Special topics for your consideration include: a film replete with things we would never ever do or even consider doing, a brief tour of Noah's Ark, characters who need not be named, and the sudden realization that some beers have higher alcohol content than others. Like horror movies about haunted houses? You'll LOVE the "Hell House LLC" trilogy, Episodes 254, 256, and 258). And because we also love those movies, we'll be doing a "Hell House LLC" watchalong on Discord on Friday, October 21 at 9pm EST. We'll blast the info all over the internet and we hope you can make it! COGNETTI! In other fun event news, I am so incredibly excited for "Single White Female: the Musical" here in Pittsburgh at Bottlerocket on November 10th! If you're local, you do not want to miss this. In this week's episode here in the heart of spooky season, we're discussing the brand new prequel to a film we reviewed just a few weeks ago: it's the 2022 film "Orphan: First Kill" and hoo boy, were we flummoxed! Special topics for your consideration include: a surprising celebrity sibling, being super ready to hate a movie knowing absolutely nothing about it, an in-depth analysis of fencing by two people who, again, know absolutely nothing about it, and a phone call from a kind listener who sheds more light on the real orphan story that has unfolded over the last few weeks, so please stick around to hear that. Did you miss our conversation about "Orphan" recently? It was Episode 395. I know Julia Stiles has been in a handful of horror movies but we haven't done any others. She did star in a remake of "The Omen" and we covered the original, so maybe go listen to that? It's Episode 77 and I know it's a stretch, sorry. Would you like to tell us about things we're wrong about? We deserve it. You can call 412-407-7025 and lay it on us. It's the most wonderful time of the year! In this week's episode, we're kicking off SPOOKY SEASON with something we haven't seen in awhile-- a good old-fashioned creepy ghost story with the 1980 film "The Changeling." Special topics for your consideration include: accepting our own mortality (or at least looking better than George C. Scott, bless his heart), making piano-man money, the kinds of things that only happen to you when your friends are rich, CLAIRE NORMAN!!, and some real deep rhythmic pounding. Oh yeah. We have not covered nearly as many ghost stories as we should have, and many of the ones we have discussed are bad! Here are some of the worst: Episode 14- "Ghost Ship," Episode 69- "Thirteen Ghosts," Episode 203- "Grave Encounters," Episode 213- "Poltergeist II: The Other Side," and Episode 311- "Girl on the Third Floor." Hey, give us a call and leave us a voicemail! You can call 412-407-7025 and let us hear your sweet sweet voices. In this week's episode, we're (foolishly) returning to a film franchise in which we (wisely) covered one film and then turned and ran: it's the 2005 sequel "Saw II." Guh. Special topics for your consideration include: elaborately-timed plans of absolute stupidity, utterly confusing motivations, wearing your dad's suit to work, two very divergent meanings of the phrase "Jesus show girl," and the possibility that these films are not just torture porn but in fact torture for the viewer. No Cary Elwes in this one, but you can catch him in "Saw," Episode 81. And, screw it, he's also in Episode 76- "????" which is actually just "Days of Thunder," a fantastic film. I wish Cary Elwes had been in this piece of shit. Hey, give us a call and leave us a voicemail! You can call 412-407-7025 and let us hear your sweet sweet voices. In this week's episode, we're talking about the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"/pornography crossover of the century: the 2022 film "X." Special topics for your consideration include: an abundance of bodily fluids, old age makeup and its effect on a film's creepiness quotient, being a secret Ti West stan, a real accent bonanza, and a very specific request for one very specific dick pic (please please do not send us your dick). We reviewed Ti West's film "House of the Devil" in Episode 172, and he performed in the film "You're Next," Episode 40. Mia Goth was in the new "Suspiria" in Episode 232, and Jenna Ortega has graced our screens in both "The Babysitter: Killer Queen" (Episode 358) and "Scream 5" (Episode 374). She was also apparently in "Insidious 2," a film I genuinely cannot believe we haven't covered but maybe some other sweet day. Hey, give us a call and leave us a voicemail! In this week's episode, we're continuing our not-so-great parents rock block (I assure you, this was an accident and will not continue) with the 2009 film "The Orphan." Special topics for your consideration include: sad lady tropes, confusing adoption procedures (and attitudes, sheesh!), having your plot hinge on a child overhearing literally every conversation, generalized bad parenting, and a twist that would make our boy M. Night cringe. Enjoy watching children behave badly? You may like Episode 59- "Children of the Corn," Episode 77- "The Omen," Episode 177- "The Brood," Episode 216- "The Devil Within Her," Episode 272- "Village of the Damned" and for everyone's sake, Episodes 376 & 378- "It's Alive!" and "It's Alive 3: Island of the Alive" respectively. In this week's episode, we're discussing the brand new Ethan Hawke horror movie "The Black Phone." Special topics for your consideration include: an accidental early reveal of next week's topic, the iconic nature of the "Dazed & Confused" soundtrack and why you may want to consider other songs from the 1970s for your movie, a Call of Cthulhu idea roll, extreme hatred of a certain M. Night Shyamalan work, and our usual outdoor visitors. Are you looking for some discussions of more movies from this year? You may enjoy Episode 370- "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," Episode 374- "Scream [5?]" and Episode 381- "Firestarter." Hey, give us a call and leave us a voicemail! In this week's episode, we're wrapping up college month with the 1990 semi-collegiate, semi-horror film "Flatliners." Yowza. Special topics for your consideration include: a trip around the Baldwin family tree, the not-so-ethnic Kevin Bacon, Julia Roberts' hair (of course), a look into Pirates' baseball history, and possibly the greatest version of "in a world of <X>, be a <Y>" that we've ever come up with. Want more Kiefer Sutherland? You'll need Episode 136- "The Lost Boys." Want to see his dad's butt? That'd be Episode 47- "Don't Look Now" and I'm sorry but I can't pass up a chance to recommend looking at Donald Sutherland's butt. Looking more for some Kevin Bacon? Check out Episode 184- "Tremors" and perhaps more importantly, in one of the finest death scenes of all time, Episode 141- "Friday the 13th." Fantastic work by your neighbor and mine but mostly mine, Tom Savini. Hey, give us a call and leave us a voicemail! You can call 412-407-7025 and let us hear your sweet sweet voices. It's the second half of College Month-- call it Spring Break, bay-bee! This week we're discussing the sequel to a film that we both really loved with the 2019 movie "Happy Death Day 2U." Special topics for your consideration include: college dudes called Kyle, a lot of confusion about loops, things that ruin emotional moments for some viewers, logical decision-making, serial killers (?), science (??), and multiverses (???!) We discussed the original "Happy Death Day" in Episode 293-- hey look, a franchise we managed to cover in order! Even if there will only ever be two films, we're still gonna pat ourselves on the back about it! HEY, we're running a contest in August! Leave us a review on Apple podcasts or wherever you listen, send us the screenshot, and we'll enter you into a drawing to pick a movie for us to cover! In this week's episode, our second of College Month, we're discussing the final entry into the "Scream" franchise that we've yet to review: "Scream 2." Special topics for your consideration include: an absolute cavalcade of 1997 stars, inexplicable movie theatre behavior, 1997 hair, phone hacks, a serious of extremely 90s conceits and just some nice times hanging with old movie friends. Scream, baby! We've got the original in Episode 44, "Scre4m" in Episode 228, "Scr3am" in Episode 278, and "Scream 5[?]" in Episode 374. Genuinely I'm sort of sad to bring this franchise to a close (lol jk they're definitely doing another one, right?) HEY, we're running a contest in August! Hey EMTs, it's about time we did a theme month! This August, it's back-to-school time with a series of four horror movies set at colleges. We're kicking it off this week with the 1982 slasher "The House on Sorority Row." Special topics for your consideration include: a lot of NSFW slang terms, being the dumb one in your group of friends, chicken bone disposal, underwear technology, impractical fashion, the worst blind date and MR. COOL SHOES. If you liked this movie, you'll love the original "Black Christmas" in Episode 113 and to a lesser degree, the remake of "Black Christmas" in Episode 312. You guys. YOU GUYS. How do you sleep at night, knowing that you've suggested films that bring us such pain? This week it's the 2008 dystopian goth musical "Repo! The Genetic Opera." Special topics for your consideration include: a mutual disdain for talk-singing, genetics: how do they work?, kernels of ideas that have gone to seed, whatever debt Paul Sorvino (RIP) had that got him to be in this film, a reconsideration of Paris Hilton, and some real honest-to-goodness angst from us. I guess we just love Paris Hilton, I dunno. Catch her in Episode 118- "House of Wax" and Episode 321- "Nine Lives." I genuinely hope she does another horror movie soon. In this week's episode, we're back to the joyful, horrifying, repulsive, hilarious fountain of weirdness that is a Fulci film-- it's the 1981 movie "The House by the Cemetery." Man oh man. Special topics for your consideration include: sweet sweet Bob and his grown ass adult voice, utterly phenomenal accents, absurd red herrings, squirrelly men, blood balloons, baffling plot holes, necessary larvae, and of course, CLOSE ENOUGH LUCIO. So many of you have suggested that "Dark Night of the Scarecrow" might be the scarecrow movie that Katie enjoyed years ago while immediately forgetting the title. Well, is it? You'll have to listen to find out! Special topics for your consideration include: an utter lack of knowledge about farm equipment, only having one outfit and wearing it for everything, absolutely amazingly-named characters, some fun with math, the insignificance of the passage of time when you're plotting out a movie, and some thoughts on folks who purchase a particular type of tshirt. This is the third scarecrow-themed film we've covered in hopes of finding the one: the others are Episode 237- "Scarecrow" (this is a SyFy channel original film and hoo boy that was a mistake) and Episode 334- "Husk." In this week's episode, we found ourselves having one of the most deeply divided reactions to a film in a very long time. The film in question is the second entry of a franchise in which, shockingly, we have also covered the first and NONE of the subsequent movies out of order: it's 2014's "The Purge: Anarchy." Special topics for your consideration include: the concept of a libertarian fantasy world, the lack of more stupid crimes, terrible code names, QB!, income taxes, trying to make a dumb idea sound smart, and the official treat of summer! We covered the first "Purge" film back in Episode 109. If you're into home invasion films, maybe you'd also like Episode 40- "You're Next," Episode 86- "Hush," Episode 243- "The Strangers," or Episode 315- "Knock Knock." In this week's episode, it's an EMT pick! Thank you so much to listener Derek who won the contest in our "Firestarter" episode and chose a real doozy of a film-- the 1988 Satanic cult movie "Hack-O-Lantern." Believe me when I say that this movie has it all: heavy metal, boobs, Satanism, a bathroom with carpet in it which is inherently also very evil, horny adult teens, weird stuff at the rec center, boobs, terrible fake guitar playing in the world's saddest jerkoff fantasy, Levi's cords, creepy grandpas, Coors Light, inept police work, barn-based occult rituals, did we mention boobs? There are a ton of them. Halloween is THE BEST. You may enjoy Episode 52- Halloween III: Season of the Witch," Episode 68- "Trick r Treat," Episode 105- "Murder Party," Episode 192- "Night of the Demons," Episode 197- "Terrifier," Episode 200- "Trick or Treat," Episode 366- "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" and really so many more. In this week's episode, we couldn't bring ourselves to watch the old "Firestarter" after the new one was so butt, so we decided to watch...well, something else that's a little bit butt. And a little bit not butt! It's the third entry into the "Final Destination" franchise and if you're wondering if we've covered the second one, the answer is no, of course not. Special topics for your consideration include: the return of elderly teenagers, tanning technology that is absolutely baffling, various facts about various presidents, conspiracy theories, and the fact that death has gotta learn to work smarter, not harder. C'mon fuckin guy. Want more of the "Final Destination" franchise? We covered the original in Episode 99. More Mary Elizabeth Winstead? Catch her in Episode 303- "Deathproof." Also this movie felt very much like it should have starred Seth Green and it decidedly did not, so go revisit his horror oeuvre in Episode 61- "Krampus," Episode 97- "IT" (the miniseries), and Episode 316- "Idle Hands" and then treat yourself to his finest role in Episode 269- "Can't Hardly Wait." In this week's episode, we're tackling an in-theaters-now/on-Peacock-now film, the 2022 remake "Firestarter." Yeahhh. Special topics for your consideration include: getting to the bottom of whose fault this is, weed as a personality and also abs as a personality, bad parenting, bad policing, Zap Efron, and our new movie pitch for a film that is destined to fail, even though it stars Rock "The Dwayne" Johnson. Want more Steven King spooky kids? Obviously you need to be listening to Episode 206- "Carrie." Want more of John Beasley? It's a stretch, I know, but he's the only person in this film who has been in anything else we've done. Apparently he is in Episode 109- "The Purge." Want more Zac Efron? Us either. In this week's episode, we're joined by special guest Eli Bosnick of many podcasts but most relevantly "God Awful Movies" to discuss the 2017 found footage Christian horror film "The Lock In." HOO BOY. Special topics for your consideration include: an honest and heartfelt look at the effects of pornography on our culture and-- no, who am I kidding? This is definitely one of our most NSFW episodes in a long time. Come for the BCA (you'll find out...) and stick around until the end to hear a way in which you can win fabulous prizes! Turns out the Christian right doesn't have a lot of horror chops. You might enjoy some religiously-themed horror movies that are much, much better: Episode 45- "Rosemary's Baby," Episode 73- "The Witch," Episode 77- "The Omen," Episode 155- "The Exorcist, "Episode 206- "Carrie," Episode 270- "Midsommar" or Episode 327- "The Vigil." In this week's episode, we're just rolling around in some of our favorite actors to watch: you've got Karen Black, Oliver Reed, Bette Davis, and Burgess Meredith (kinda) in the 1976 creepy film "Burnt Offerings." Special topics for your consideration include: a special message for new listeners, things you can get away with when you're Oliver Reed, hairstyles as a plot device, striving to be like Bette Davis, and a real lack of concern for children's safety in the 70s. Two of our favorite weird movies that we've covered over the years feature some of these actors. You may enjoy Episode 123- "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?" and Episode 177- "The Brood." In one of the ultimate mood swings from last week's silly fever dream of a movie, this week we're discussing the 2019 psychological horror film "The Lighthouse." Special topics for your consideration include: a lovely production of "Treasure Island," limits to manual labor abilities, a perpetual fear of isolated places, a little chat about art, a little chat about farts, a sprinkling of Greek mythology and of course, dick jokes. Want more Robert Pattinson? You could listen to our own descents into madness with the "Twilight" series (and we only covered two of them!) The original is Episode 355; "Breaking Dawn Pt. 1" was Episode 359. And please don't even ask when we're doing Part 2 because I am genuinely still not okay from the first half. In true Werewolf Ambulance fashion, we're skipping the sequel entirely and hurtling towards the conclusion of the "It's Alive" franchise with the third film, "Island of the Alive." Special topics for your consideration include: subpar movie punks, parenting choices one ought not to make, beefcake cops, whatever movie Michael Moriarty thinks he is in, a boat filled with bodies crashing into a marina and the kindness of the Cuban people. We covered "It's Alive" last week in Episode 376. You may also like the Larry Cohen film "The Stuff," featured in Episode 180. Apparently he also made a movie called "God Made Me Do It" about a half-man/half-alien cult leader so I guess I know what I'm watching tonight! KILLER BABIES! All killer baby movies are, on some level, pretty batshit. This one takes the cake. We're discussing the 1974 film "It's Alive!" and it is a wild ride. Special topics for your consideration include: a film written from the perspective of absolutely no one, cops who can't hit a baby in a bush, the utter distastefulness of the 70s decor color palette, deadbeat uncles, poker-playing dads-to-be, and the sound of a grown man vomiting. Do you like murderous tots? Perhaps you'd enjoy Episode 77- "The Omen," Episode 177- "The Brood," and Episode 216- "The Devil Within Her." Are you a wrestling fan? In this week's surprise movie switcheroo, we decided to discuss the 1986 Clive Barker creature film "Rawhead Rex" and WOW is this a movie. Special topics for your consideration include: possibly unintentionally paying homage to another film, the deep-seated fear of not actually being funny, hating your spouse but also jamming your tongue into their mouth whenever possible, terrible parenting, terrible creature design, terrible rocks and terrible baptisms. We've spent quite a bit of time with ol' Clive. You might enjoy our episodes on other films that he worked on, like Episode 34- "Candyman," Episode 51- "Hellraiser," Episode 150- "Midnight Meat Train," Episode 205- "Hellbound: Hellraiser II," Episode 262- "Hellraiser: Hellbound," and Episode 320- "Nightbreed." First of all, apologies because I genuinely can't figure out if the number 5 is included in the film's title. Also, "5cream" or nothing, c'mon guys. Anyway! That's the movie we're talking about, and special topics for your consideration include: having actual feelings about celeb's marriages, a lil bit of Hollywood nepotism, drawing a strong parallel between this film and the other fine film "No Holds Barred," very strong opinions on pizza, and just a modest proposal to all those who make horror movies. We've now watched nearly every film in this franchise, and we actually watched the first one first! The original is Episode 44, then we've got "Scre4m" in Episode 228 and "Scr3am" in Episode 278. And just for fun, please enjoy our other works of David Arquette: Episode 93- "Ravenous" and Episode 241- "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Do you want to see a truly exceptional indie wrestling event? Last night was the "Renegade" show put on by our friends at Enjoy Wrestling (www.enjoy-wrestling.com.) It's an EMT pick this week, EMTs! We're discussing the 1989 grocery store-based horror film "Intruder." Special topics for your consideration include: an exciting Estevez development, sick reggaeton beats, our hopes for the geopolitical future of North America (c'mon Canada, we're waiting for you!), being the surprising nephew of a famous writer, and the lamentable position of being just smart enough to not be stupid-- it's rough. Want more from the Raimi brothers? Check out Episode 70- "30 Days of Night," Episode 150- "Midnight Meat Train," Episode 229- "Army of Darkness," and Episode 280- "The Evil Dead." I was also absolutely sure that we'd covered "Maniac Cop" at some point but the internet tells me I'm wrong so...maybe some other sweet day! HEY. In this week's episode, we're discussing fake Satan, fake metal and fake 20-somethings in the 2019 horror film "We Summon the Darkness." Special topics for your consideration include: the joy of watching people have fun, quality crazy faces, disappointing M. Night Shyamalan, sartorial inaccuracies of every g.d. movie about the Satanic Panic, more hard-to-pronounce words, the long-lasting effects of that one Dee Snider movie and the fact that we kept calling this "the Johnny Knoxville horror movie" even though he's in like, three scenes and is pretty questionable in each. Like movies about Satan? Good, that's a lot of horror! Maybe you'd just enjoy some movies we referenced in this episode: Episode 127- "The House of the Devil," Episode 176- "Strangeland," Episode 315-"Knock Knock" and Episode 343- "Black Roses." In this week's episode, we're discussing a movie about an eccentric family and using podcasting as free therapy for ourselves with the 2019 film "Ready or Not." Special topics for your consideration include: how cool smoking makes you look if you're beautiful (I'm sorry, but it DOES), feeling rational hatred, the absolute joy that is Mrs. McMurray (Melanie Scrofano), some British crime drama recommendations or perhaps anti-recommendations, and a tiki bar that warps your memory. Want more Samara Weaving? Check out Episodes 154 and 358, "The Babysitter" and "The Babysitter: Killer Queen" respectively. More Adam Brody? He's in Episode 107- "Jennifer's Body," Episode 228- "Scream 4," and Episode 98- "The Ring," in which he is credited as "Male Teen." Also, he works all the time, I'm an idiot. In this week's episode, we're discussing the brand new Netflix film "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" which is...interesting. Also, we open this episode by having a lil snack so if the sound of people eating bothers you, please be prepared to skip ahead. Okay, onto the special topics for your consideration! They are: more plot holes than Leatherface's mask, a veritable smorgasbord of musical jokes, Stockard Channing cosplay, financial irregularities, and finally solving the riddle of "how many horror movies must one see in order to make one's own horror movie?" We'll probably never cover the original because it's too excellent, but you can hear some episodes from the rest of the franchise: Episode 58- "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2" and Episode 145- "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (colloquially known as "the Jessica Biel one.") Special topics for your consideration include: a rousing game of Argento bingo, a little bit of bug math, runner up patron saint of the podcast Donald Pleasence, the worst possible intro to a Penthouse letter and a box of smallish Swiss flags. Oh, Dario. You can hear a lot of talk about him in Episode 23- "Suspiria," Episode 84- "Demons," Episode 185- "Deep Red," Episode 306- "Tenebrae," and Episode 325- The Bird with the Crystal Plumage." In this week's episode, we're discussing the 1995 horror anthology by one of our own, a good Pittsburgh guy, Rusty Cundieff-- it's "Tales from the Hood." Special topics for your consideration include: having believed that a distressing film was actually going to be a comedy before you saw it AGAIN, acceptable euphemisms for urination, poorly planned interventions by educators, anatomy that deserves its own billing, the new "Jackass film" and our sieve-like memories, and of course, the SHIT. In this week's episode, we're tackling a found footage film from the heyday of found footage films, 2010's "The Last Exorcism." Special topics for your consideration include: confusion about organized religion, the bayou, auctioneers, home schooling, secular vs nonsecular music, medical abilities and more!, solving a movie with a couple of phone calls and the demon that launched a thousand parody songs.
Into movies about exorcisms? You can listen to us discuss the greatest in Episode 155- "The Exorcist." You can hear us talk about some others that are not the greatest in Episode 63- "The Taking of Deborah Logan," Episode 90- "Amityville II: The Possession," Episode 96- "The Conjuring" and Episode 333- "The Conjuring 2." In this week's episode, we're hitting a film about a cultural touchstone for many of us-- the 2019 film "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark." Special topics for your consideration include: being absolutely dried up by the pandemic, kids with cool interests, an aversion to music boxes, Steve Kornacki, holding a ghost accountable for things, great spookery and some confusing messages about Vietnam.

In this week's episode, we're venturing into the world of eco-friendly, sustainable, and also anthropomorphic clothing with the 2021 film "Slaxx." Special topics for your consideration include: the OG terribly pretentious clothing store that was (is?) American Apparel, influencers, Team Craig I guess, pants that look like people, famous inventors and a film that is just utterly full of surprises. And hey! This is our 365th episode which is a FULL YEAR of Werewolf Ambulance (not including our maternity break clip shows and our pandemic bonus episodes)! Man, you guys are really getting your free's worth. I can only think of one other movie we've covered in which the main bad guy is an inanimate object, dolls and puppets notwithstanding. It's Episode 112- "Christine." In this week's episode, we're divided by a movie yet again! We're discussing the 2002 video-game-to-horror-movie adaptation "Resident Evil" over a couple of drinky drinks (we're still recording remotely; the world is dumb). Special topics for your consideration include: a rare non-Savini-based Pittsburgh celebrity tale, the best and worst of action movie subgenres, servers and computer stuff, feelings about Michele Rodriguez, and a sincere request to have some patience with those around you unless those around you are, say, this film. We have covered shockingly few video game films! In fact, the only one may have been Episode 111- "Silent Hill," though while Googling it I learned about the film "Alone in the Dark" which apparently stars Christian Slater as a paranormal researcher and TARA REID AS AN ARCHAEOLOGIST (a phrase that must be typed in all caps) and now I really want to watch that. In this week's episode, we're tapping into a familiar well for us-- the work of M. Night Shyamalan with his latest film, 2021's "Old." This was, shockingly, one of the more divisive movies we've ever discussed! Special topics for your consideration include: confusion about science, questionable choices for your child characters, the least worst pharmaceutical company, some utterly incomprehensible line deliveries and a ska-promise (skamise? I don't know) that we are making to you, our EMTs. Wanna hear us discuss more from ol' M.? DCheck out a very early-but- goodie, Episode 12- "The Happening," Episode 157- "The Sixth Sense," and Episode 169- "The Village." After our brief diversion into a holiday break and a romantic comedy, we're back with that good, bad and ugly horror content you love: this week it's the sixth entry in the "Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise, "Wes Craven's New Nightmare." Special topics for your consideration include: Wes Craven tooting his own horn- figuratively and also quite literally, some child actor age shenanigans, the fact that this film is so deeply mean to Heather Langenkamp (an actual real person), the best way to tell kids about both birth and death (the answer involves Criss Angel) and John Saxon, god love him, John Saxon is here! We've really dug into this franchise. You can hear the original in Episode 4, then we started jumping all over the place. Episode 121 is the fifth film, "Dream Child," Episode 242 is the third film, "Dream Warriors," and Episode 337 is the second film, "Freddy's Revenge." Hey, who cares if it doesn't make sense? Yinz, it's our annual New Year's romcom episode and honestly we're baffled as to why. We've taken a trip back to the turn of the century and nude shimmer lipstick with the 2000 film "Miss Congeniality" (very much a different film than I remembered). Special topics for your consideration include: high highs and low lows of potential celeb friendships, a roundup of Christmas romcoms (and frankly, holy shit at these things), Satan's panties, perfect pratfalls, incompetence at the federal level, and our record as matchmakers (1-0 and we're probably out after that!) Last year we bailed on the romcom idea and instead covered "The Fate of the Furious," which was Episode 313 and also, spectacular. Our previous romcoms were Episode 209- "Love Actually" and Episode 261- "You've Got Mail," but we also once went absolutely insane while in lockdown and spent the better part of three hours over two episodes discussing "Titanic." Those were Bonus Episodes #3 & 4 in April and May of 2020. Find us online: If you liked this, please leave us a review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen! Hi EMTs! We hope you've had a wonderful or at least a tolerable holiday season thus far. We're enjoying our week off and are confident (or at least Allen is) that you'll enjoy one of his favorite old episodes: Episode 24- "Grabbers." This is a 2012 Irish horror comedy about needing to stay drunk to ward off a bloodsucking creature, so naturally, we got drunk to watch and record. Really drunk. I don't really remember it but Allen thinks it's a goodie, so it must be! We love you all and we'll see you back here next week for our New Year's episode, "Miss Congeniality." |

That sound you hear is sleigh bells jingling, ring-ting-tingling, and some light sobbing. This week's episode is our eighth annual Christmas horror episode and, as is the case for so many films of this genre, hoo BOY is it emotionally brutal. We're talking about the 1980 holiday unclassic "Christmas Evil." To be fair, this movie has everything: labor struggles, confused adolescents, the Hamburger Emperor Band, a terrifying collection of Christmas ephemera, a fake Geraldo Rivera, seasonal familial strife, the horrors of midnight mass, extremely upsetting holiday music, a man inexplicably covering his face and hands in mud and kissing a house! It's got it all that and more! Do you like hearing us agonize about the holidays? Here are seven years' worth of episodes for you! We are wishing you and yours the happiest of holiday seasons and, even if it sucks, remember that we love you and it'll be over soon. That being said, we're taking a break next week and will be releasing a classic episode that we feel could use some extra love like that dumb tree in the Charlie Brown Christmas special. We'll be back the following week with another dumb tradition: the New Years rom-com. Find us online: If you liked this, please leave us a review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen! In this week's episode, we're discussing the last "Twilight" film. No, not the last one ever made but ABSOLUTELY the last one we are ever reviewing. Hallelujah, holy shit, where'e the Tylenol? Special topics for your consideration include: completely rethinking our previous stance on teens, Kenny Fisher, continuing the skaversation with our brand new ska band, a very frank conversation with Stephanie Meyer, TNG-level makeup and the fact that THIS IS NOT EVEN A MOVIE. It isn't. Oh, and this might be our most NSFW episode in awhile. Sorry about that. We talked about "Twilight" in Episode 355. We made some episodes before that and a few after, I don't know, I can't remember. I feel so empty. Twilight is the final ruiner. In this week's episode, we're discussing the sequel to a film we really enjoyed-- it's the 2020 follow-up film "The Babysitter: Killer Queen." Did we enjoy this one as well? You'll have to listen to find out! Special topics for your consideration include: the hip hip music of teens today or perhaps teens 30 years ago, the bad parts of getting older, a reminder not to be a cool dad, an incomplete list of film sequels that surpassed their predecessor, and doing bong rips with Ken Marino. If you missed us discussing the original film in this series, it's Episode 154- "The Babysitter." If you'd like to hear us talk about some horror comedy we loved, you could do worse than Episode 236- "House," Episode 293- "Happy Death Day," Episode 322- "Freaky," and one I just remembered that I absolutely adored: Episode 78- "Housebound." In this week's episode, we're tackling a bit of a head-scratcher: the 2020 film "The Empty Man." Come along with us on this journey-- special topics for your consideration include: peeing in the pool, white people doing international travel, emo teens, Stephen Root, Big Boi, landlines, and a recurring joke that is just a bit empty, man. We reference the film "Kill List" in this episode quite a bit; you can hear us discuss that all the way back in Episode 19. Also, I just googled "cerebral horror" just to see what movies we've covered, and we'd done nearly all of the top 10. Somehow--somehow! "Cube" was on that list so I'm gonna go ahead and recommend that. It's Episode 166. Find us online: If you liked this, please leave us a review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen! In this week's episode we're discussing the revenge film that wasn't-- the fourth entry in the "Child's Play" franchise, "Bride of Chucky." Special topics for your consideration include: an undying love of John Ritter, all 90s roads leading back to Jerry Springer, the choices that culminate in owning a waterbed, toxic relationships and the "Twilight" effect looming large in our brains, inept cops, and a surprise visit from a dolphin. Did you miss our other "Child's Play" episodes? Naturally we covered the sequel first (Episode 28) and the original film second (Episode 231) with the remake coming in appropriately third, in Episode 287. Let's do "Twilight!" he said. Warning: this episode is particularly NSFW. Like even more so than usual. Frankly I'm not sure that there's a more wretched vampire film than this one, but that might just be because Danzig's new project hasn't been released yet. Regardless, you may also like our episodes about such wretched vampire films as Episode 89- "Queen of the Damned," Episode 153- "The Hunger" (I'm sorry, I hated it), Episode 310- "Among the Shadows" or Episode 317- "Dracula 2000." In this week's episode, we're taking a break from the new and popular films of peak spooky season and discussing a piece of work that just stinks of our old friend Charles Band- the 1987 film "Dolls." Special topics for your consideration include: questionable parenting choices, the perks of being a manchild, a celebration of a different film that truly never stops amazing us, movie punks, nip slips, child support, tiny knives and an extremely prescient dream. I know Stuart Gordon directed this film but frankly I like Charles Band better, so let's talk about movies that he's had a hand in: Episode 156- "Gingerdead Man," Episode 164- "Puppet Master," Episode 165- "Puppet Master 2," Episode 171- "Ghoulies," Episode 186- "Tourist Trap," and Episode 199- "Terrorvision." Happy Halloween hangover day, EMTs! We hope you're still with us and that your stomachache from eating 400 fun-size Milky Ways is gone. In this week's episode, we're discussing the brand new entry into the Halloween franchise, "Halloween Kills." Special topics for your consideration include: two of our patron saints (Jamie Lee Curtis and Judy Greer obviously), when flipping the script goes wrong and who is to blame for it, the lamentation of Josh Hartnett no longer existing in this universe, cop school, vigilante justice, sentimentality, and looking like you financially support NPR. We have never and probably will never cover the 1978 "Halloween," but we have covered "Halloween III: Season of the Witch" (Episode 52), "Halloween H20" (Episode 201), "Halloween: Resurrection" (Episode 202), and "Halloween" (the Rob Zombie reimagining, Episode 304). It's the exciting conclusion of our rock block, EMTs! We're discussing the second installment of the adventures of Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the 2019 film, "It Chapter Two." Special topics for your consideration include: the potential redemption of James McAvoy (we'll see), CGI bug babies and the feelings they stir up, trying to be friends with Jessica Chastain, a generalized disdain for giant Paul Bunyan, and the return of a classic recurring gag for us. Last week (Episode 351) we discussed the first half of this unendingly long film series. In Episode 97 we discussed the miniseries. And just for fun, in Episode 126 we discussed "Cabin in the Woods," which I mention only because it's the spookytimes season and it's still one of my (Katie) favorite spookytimes movies of the last decade. In this week's episode, we're trying desperately not to pronounce "clown" as "clahn" as we discuss the 2017 film "It." We'll be talking Chapter 2 next week but for now, special topics for your consideration include: 90s rock star fights, well-cast teens even if teens are kinda awful, a masterclass on practical vs. computer-generated effects, trying not to compare anyone to Tim Curry, top tier boy bands, and a reminder to be kinder to the children in our lives. Did you miss our first pass at "It" when we discussed the 1990 miniseries? It's Episode 97. Find us online: If you liked this, please leave us a review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen! *dj air horn* It's our 350th episode! We actually didn't realize until...well, right now. But that's okay, because we think it's a pretty good one. This episode represents our return to the Wan-iverse with James Wan's newest film, "Malignant." Special topics for your consideration include: some more life advice from your friends who know nothing-- including some on both hypnotherapy and falling down, a little bit of DMB talk (please don't come at us DMB fans, it's fine, we're sorry), Five Inch Nails, some real "Paranormal Activity"-level spooky kid stuff, and a slander being righted in the most delightful way (stick around to the end for that one). The Wan-iverse is vast and we've really disliked most of it. Find out more with Episode 81- "Saw," Episode 96- "The Conjuring," Episode 303- "Insidious" and Episode 333- "The Conjuring 2." I was also 90% sure we'd done "The Nun" but the records beg to differ and they are probably right, so. In this week's episode, we're exploring what happens when you take a charming Canadian slasher film and reimagine it as much, much worse: you'll get the 2008 movie "Prom Night" (and you'll deserve it!) Special topics for your consideration include: "that guy from that thing," a message to teens from your pals here at Werewolf Ambulance, a lil trip to Candy Corner, life as a prom DJ and all that is Idris Elba. We've put in some time with the "Prom Night" series. You can hear it on Episode 162 with the original, and Episode 257 with the sequel, the delightfully-named "Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night 2." EMTs, what better way to wrap up our 'horrors of the sky' rock block with a movie that does not contain enough movie to fill an entire podcast episode? We're talking about the 2020 film "Shadow in the Cloud." It is what we in the industry call "a doozy." Special topics for your consideration include: a healthy amount of "what's in the booooox?" talk, stolen movie valor, some questions about depictions of feminism, um...Thanksgiving? There really wasn't much to talk about. Chloe Grace Moretz was in the remake of "Suspiria," and that one really befuddled us too. It's Episode 232. EMTs, it is good to be back in the attic! This week we've got the 'fasten seatbelts' sign on with the first half of our airplane horror rock block-- we're discussing the new Netflix original film "Blood Red Sky." Special topics for your consideration include: a real missed opportunity when it came to naming this film, more questions about the vampire lifestyle, a debate over whether Germans even wear jeans, having a friend named Eightball, the "Police Academy" film franchise and Bud Lite Lime: GIVE US YOUR MONEY! Do you want more vampires on a plane? Check out Episode 317- "Dracula 2000." Do you want some vampires in a van? That would be Episode 341- "Near Dark." Vampires in a house? Episode 195- "What We Do in the Shadows." Vampires in a bar? Episode 210- "From Dusk til Dawn" and the list goes on! In this week's episode, we are bidding farewell to the "Fear Street" trilogy with the third entry into the series, "1666." Special topics for your consideration include: ye olde horny teens, not faring well in a small town...or an old timey town...or anywhere really, the "Hell House LLC" effect on the third film in a three-part franchise, unforgiving pants, more 90s music, and we're finally taking a stand against our Puritan listenership. In this week's episode, we're covering the remake of the film we both loved-- the 2011 version of "Fright Night." Special topics for your consideration include: objectification sweatpants, an amazing cast of people that we are basically obsessed with (besides Colin Farrell, sorry I guess), more questions about vampires, a criminal underutilization of Chris Sarandon, and a new Wario revealed. Did you miss us talking about the original film? It's Episode 22. Do you love Chris Sarandon, who is barely in this film? Of course you do. In this week's episode, we're back to the Netflix original "Fear Street" series with the second entry in the series: 1978. A very good year! Special topics for your consideration include: probably incorrect opinions on witches, beets and asparagus talk, looking like a postgrad, glowering teens, bullying teens, surly teens, confusing teens, horny teens, and otherwise generally shitty teens. This week, in a shocking twist, we discover that there is a heavy metal horror movie from the year of our lord 1988 that ALLEN HAS NOT SEEN. How can this be? Regardless, we're remedying the situation by watching and discussing "Black Roses," available on Shudder. Special topics for your consideration include: shitty 80s moms and dads, really pushing the limits of how old an actor can be and still play a teen, kicking off a worldwide tour with four nights at the Mill Basin High School auditorium, a question not of whether there are tits but in fact whose tits they are, and demon nards. Heavy metal horror: it's a thing! I'm lumping a lot of stuff into this category, so please enjoy Episode 13- "Phantom of the Paradise," Episode 38- "The Gate," Episode 175- "House of 1000 Corpses," Episode 176- "Strangeland,"Episode 199- "Terrorvision," Episode 200- "Trick or Treat," and Episode 242- "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors." In this week's episode, we decided to see what all the fuss was about with the new Netflix release "Fear Street Part One: 1994." Special topics for your consideration include: a lot of strong opinions about 90s rock, a lot of strong opinions about 90s fashion and the revisionist history therein, teen television: is it for us? (probably?), early internet usage, and kids? Listen to Soundgarden. We're gonna do this like the "Hell House LLC" trilogy, covering the next movie in two weeks. In this week's episode, we're discussing one of the finest vampire films of all time in my (Katie's) humble opinion, though we realized about halfway through recording it that we were kinda just laughing about it. We're talking about the 1987 Kathryn Bigelow-directed film "Near Dark." Special topics for your consideration include: just trying to imagine being insanely beautiful, the utter horrors of child vampires, another tally in the "horses are smarter than us and ready to destroy us at a moment's notice" column, Bill Paxton in all of his weird clown glory, and a possible new business venture Allen devised. There are one brazilian vampire movies in the world. Here are some of them: Episode 22- "Fright Night," Episode 70- "30 Days of Night," Episode 89- "Queen of the Damned," Episode 136- "The Lost Boys," Episode 153- "The Hunger," Episode 163- "Let the Right One In," Episode 190- "Interview with a Vampire," Episode 195- "What We Do in the Shadows," Episode 210- "From Dusk til Dawn," Episode 241- "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," Episode 310- "Among the Shadows," and Episode 317- "Dracula 2000." In this week's episode, we're talking farms and sheeps and the great outback with the 2006 New Zealand horror comedy "Black Sheep," not to be confused with the extremely popular American 1996 non-horror comedy of the same name. Special topics for your consideration include: environmental activist conspiracy theories, farm talk from two people who know next to nothing about farming, the absolute joy that comes from watching a sheep drive a truck, the fact that the plural of 'sheep' is ABSOLUTELY 'sheeps' and an extremely special musical number at the end of the episode-- stick around for it! In this week's very special episode, we are returning to a film we covered early in our podcasting career- the 1985 horror comedy "Return of the Living Dead." Special topics for your consideration include: revisiting old jokes and writing better new jokes, the national treasure that is Linnea Quigley, the national weirdo that is Glenn Danzig, extremely bleak things in an extremely comedic film, the return of Clu Gulager and movie punks, of course we're talking about movie punks. If you missed our original "Return of the Living Dead" episode, it sounds like it's not worth revisiting. If you must, it's Episode 17. Want more Linnea Quigley? You could check out Episode 9- "Silent Night, Deadly Night" (which we feel may actually be our worst episode ever), Episodes 192- "Night of the Demon" and Episode 265- "Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama." Thanks to everyone who wrote in with their impressions of this film, we really loved reading all of your thoughts. In this week's episode, we're getting back into the folk horror genre with the 2018 film "Apostle," a Netflix production. Special topics for your consideration include: a dirty and glowering Dan Stevens, cult recruitment tactics, using a standard-issue receptacle incorrectly, blaming god for literally everything, and the fact that folk horror is always going to be compared to "The Wicker Man." In this week's episode and in honor of Pride Month, we're discussing what the internet described as "the gayest horror movie of all time." It's the second entry into the "Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise, "Freddy's Revenge." Special topics for your consideration include: wanting to be good allies but also being mad at corporations, the concept of subtext (say it with me now, SUB-TEXT), generalized confusion about Freddy (is he a demon? a ghost? just a pest? Was he ever a school janitor? Is he both in dreams and the real world? Is it okay to just call him Fred?) and the power of love. Are you a fan of this franchise? Episode 4 covers the original, but you may also like the 4th film, Episode 121- "Dream Child," and the 3rd film, Episode 242- "Dream Warriors." Why cover a franchise in chronological order when you can do it this way and feign outrage about not understanding anything? In this week's episode, we discover that a crappy book is likely to make a crappy movie with the 2008 adaptation "The Ruins." Special topics for your consideration include: a running theme of terrible doctors named Jeff, our inability to keep a running pun throughout an episode (but also, some pretty siiiick plant-related puns), secretly wishing for vines to grow under one's skin, never wanting to travel with an Amy, and the worst choices. Just...just the worst choices. Sometimes the outdoors is the worst bad guy of all. If you agree, you might also enjoy such episodes as Episode 12- "The Happening," Episode 152- "Anaconda," Episode 168- "Arachnophobia," Episode 193- "Orca" and Episode 238- "Frogs." In this week's episode, we tackle perhaps our most boob-heavy film of all time: the 1990 Frank Henenlotter horror/comedy/exploitation film "Frankenhooker." Special topics for your consideration include: an extremely loose interpretation of Mary Shelley, a substantial amount of science mumbling, the beauty that is "Basket Case," misremembering films of your youth, delightful puppetry and Zombie Teddy Ruxpin vs. Zombie Skippy Scribbles. This movie feels like a bit of a mashup of several other films we've discussed: Episode 29- "Re-Animator," Episode 199- "Terrorvision," and "Basket Case," which was our guest appearance on the excellent podcast Neon Brainiacs. It's their Episode 52 and you can hear it at https://neonbrainiacs.libsyn.com/53-basket-case-1982 or wherever you listen to podcasts. Well, is this the scarecrow film we've been waiting for? I'm actually not sure and for that, I apologize. Regardless, we're talking about it! This week's movie is the 2010 film "Husk." Special topics for your consideration include: knowing basically everything you know about corn from "Field of Dreams," burlap: a terrifying fabric, wishing for the death of Baby & Baby, odd crow behavior and confusing dream sequences. Did you miss our first attempt at a scarecrow movie? It's Episode 237- "Scarecrow." Just...just really into corn? How about Episode 59- "Children of the Corn"? This week, Ed & Lorraine Warren are back on their bullshit and frankly, we are not having it. Furthermore, how does this movie have 80% on Rotten Tomatoes? It's madness. Speaking of madness, special topics for your consideration include: ghosts who enjoy the work of Margaret Thatcher, ghosts who can tell riddles that the demons who inhabit them cannot hear, making a movie that is basically a greatest hits of your other movies (not that we do the best job remembering the other movies but please recall that being fun is better than knowing things), and the ultimate embarrassment: doing a sincere Elvis impersonation in front of other human beings. If you want to hear our episode on "The Conjuring," it's number 96. If you'd like to delve more deeply into the Wan-iverse, check out Episode 81- "Saw" and Episode 303- "Insidious." I also just realized that I have attributed the "Paranormal Activity" films to Mr. Wan in previous episode notes, and while I regret that error, please see above re: being fun and knowing things. You know, we often say that a movie has everything, but truly the 1989 sci-fi creature (?) film "Leviathan" does. You've got Daniel Stern, Ernie Hudson, Mulder's girlfriend from season 2 of "The X-Files," Robocop, sorta fish people, questionable bathroom practices, a lot of picking and choosing from movies that are actually very good, and the evil inherent in capitalism. What more could you want? Maybe you want more Daniel Stern? Go listen to Episode 253- "C.H.U.D." More Ernie Hudson? You'll want Episode 214- "Congo" featuring our excellent and hilarious friend Elaina. Find us online: If you liked this, please leave us a review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen! In this week's episode, we decided to take a suggestion from listener/Apple Podcasts reviewer* karlyAB and watch the 2012 film "John Dies at the End." Special topics for your consideration include: drugs, whether drugs enhance this film (possibly?), whether Allen is currently on drugs (he is not), the further misadventures of our 19 & 9 best friendship, having a hard time recalling plot points despite many exposures to them, and Paul Giamatti: is he a meatball, or no? *you can most likely persuade us to cover a movie of your choice with a favorable review I'M JUST SAYING. Like Don Coscarelli? We've covered "Phantasm" (Episode 67) and "Phantasm II" (Episode 314) Like Paul Giamatti? I don't know, watch the "John Adams" miniseries. It was pretty good, even if it was hard to forget sometimes that it was Paul Giamatti. Find us online: If you liked this, please leave us a review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen! This week's episode is the second in our 2007 "Grindhouse" series-- the Quentin Tarantino-written and directed film "Deathproof." Special topics for your consideration include: amazing stunts! butts! obscure references! Quentin Tarantino's childhood! butts! unwanted foot touching! BUTTS! and of course, an ode to our boyfriend and quite frankly your boyfriend as well, Kurt Russell. What a guy. Last week (Episode 329- "Planet Terror") was the first half of "Grindhouse" in case you missed it. Since Tarantino does have great taste in film, I looked up a list of his top 10 favorite horror movies and we'd covered some: Episode 194- "Santa Sangre," Episode 305- "My Bloody Valentine" and for some reason, Episode 289= "Crawl" (but why?) In this week's episode, we're jumping into the first half of the 2007 "Grindhouse" double feature- the Robert Rodriguez entry "Planet Terror," or as it's more commonly known, "The Machine Gun Leg One." Special topics for your consideration include: machine gun legs obvs, the concept of being a 90s human, feeling an intimate emotional connection with Robert Rodriguez, the utter gooeyness of this film and a weird amount of knowledge with regard to The Black-Eyed Peas. Want more Robert Rodriguez? You could check out Episode 87- "The Faculty" and Episode 210- "From Dusk til Dawn." More Rose McGowan? She's in Episode 44- "Scream" and Episode 298- "Jawbreaker." More Freddy Rodriguez? He's in Episode 269- "Can't Hardly Wait" and I'm sorry, I legitimately can't stop myself from talking about that movie. It's a like late-stage pandemic brain disorder. This week we're taking a little break. Rather than record a new episode, we sat on our porch studio and ate ice cream cake instead and frankly, we needed it. We're not leaving you with nothing though! We hope you enjoy this episode that was previously available only to our Patróns on our action movie podcast: the absolutely batshit film "Face/Off." In this week's episode, we're on the front porch on a lovely but windy Pittsburgh evening discussing what is perhaps the worst-named sequel in the history of film franchises- "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer." Special topics for your consideration include" potential title re-writes (like perhaps "I Have Not Forgotten What You Did Two Summers Ago At This Point"), a running game of "do you recognize that guy?", the best thing about this movie (Brandy obvs), a twist that NO ONE COULD HAVE SEEN COMING, and some bad advice on what to do if you're being attacked. Seriously, remember that our motto is 'being fun is better than knowing things' and as a result, we'd just recommend self-defense classes. Did you miss "I Know What You Did Last Summer?" You can be forgiven, it's Episode 8 and god help me I defended it. You can also catch J.Lo.Hew in Episode 269- "Can't Hardly Wait" and you can see Jeffrey Combs in another early episode of ours: Episode 29- "Re-Animator." Also, we love you guys. In this week's episode, we're discussing the extremely creepy religious/supernatural horror thriller "The Vigil." Special topics for your consideration include: the scare dragon, a series of porch interruptions, horror movie tropes used to perfect effect, BLUMHOUSE! and a couple of gentiles trying not to say anything incorrect about Jewish culture. We have done so many horror movies with a religious twist. For the good, try Episode 45- "Rosemary's Baby," Episode 73- "The Witch," Episode 77- "The Omen," Episode 155- "The Exorcist" or Episode 270- "Midsommar." For the bad, try Episode 58- "The Prophecy" or Episode 216- "The Devil Within Her." You probably won't regret any of them. *airhorn sound* WE'RE BACK ON THE PORCH!!! *airhorn sound* In this week's episode, we're reunited in person for the first time in ~5 months and the result is one of our most joyful episodes in a long time. We're discussing the 1982 Wes Craven-directed DC Comics horror film "Swamp Thing." Special topics for your consideration include: inexplicable love interests, weird sibling relationships, some potential marketing options for Bud Light, being both a badass and ill-prepared for the swamp, human ~*~essence~*~ and a perm that just won't quit. Cravin' some Craven? (I hate myself): Episode 4- "A Nightmare on Elm Street," Episode 44- "Scream," Episode 138- "The People Under the Stairs," Episode 228- "Scream 4," and Episode 278- "Scream 3." Truly the elephant in this room is "Scream 2," huh? In this week's episode, we're talking about cops who delegate, spooky black gloves, uncomfortable-looking night clothes, stolen passports, a murderer who loves cackling, red herrings, confusing characters with even more confusing motivations and utterly beautiful scenery. Must be an Argento film! We're discussing Dario's distinctive directorial debut (sorry for the alliteration but I literally could not help myself) "The Bird with the Crystal Plumage." Want to get in on some other Argento films? If you listen to Episode 23- "Suspiria," Episode 84- "Demons," Episode 185- "Deep Red" and Episode 306- "Tenebrae" in order, you'll get to experience Katie's quest to understand and appreciate Argento (spoilers: it actually happens!!) Don't think it, don't say it, and frankly don't watch it. This might be the film that finally broke us-- it's the 2017 supernatural and inexplicable horror film "The Bye Bye Man." Special topics for your consideration include: things Carrie Ann Moss would rather be doing, things girls love (ransom note poetry, mostly), tiny doors, bad ideas, confusing nightstands and the ultimate challenge (paying any type of sustained attention to this film). Here is a list of previous episodes and you can guess what they have in common! Episode 74- "Pay the Ghost," Episode 96- "The Conjuring," Episode 134- "#Horror" and Episode 181- "Tusk." In this week's episode, we're discussing a movie that's even newer than last week's episode! It is also much, much sillier. We're talking about the 2020 horror comedy film "Psycho Goreman." Special topics for your consideration include: a deep and abiding knowledge of "Encino Man," child acting that makes you kind of uncomfortable, an absolutely insane rundown of the villains of "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers," hyperspecific nerd references and the neeerrrds that love them and LET'S GO BUCS! This movie reminded us a lot of several other movies we've discussed: check out Episode 38- "The Gate," Episode 147- "Critters" and Episode 199- "Terrorvision" (aka THE LIVE SHOW). Weirdly, all three of those films are also from the 1986-87 corridor in which Allen's brain loves to live. In this week's episode, we're shedding the burdens of the terrible movies we've been discussing lately with the 2020 horror comedy "Freaky." Special topics for your consideration include: the "She's All That" problem, what Vince Vaughn brings to the table, a high batting average for jokes, the subversion of horror tropes and what might happen if we were to body swap. You like Double-V? You may enjoy Episode 133- "The Cell." Want to check out some other Christopher Landon films? We'd recommend Episode 293- "Happy Death Day" and Episode 296- "Paranormal Activity 3." In this week's episode, we increase Paris Hilton's appearances on Werewolf Ambulance by 100%-- no, it's not "The Hottie and the Nottie," though honestly I kinda wish it was-- it's 2002's "Nine Lives." It's bad, and it's not even really Paris's fault. Is it about cats? It is not. Special topics for your consideration include: a spot-on portrayal of an American and a spot-off portrayal of actual snow, a deeply terrible explanation of existentialism, being the "most likely to murder" friend, our fundamental lack of understanding around the metric system and Tim? Tom? No, it's Tim. Want to see more Paris in your life? Probably not but Episode 118- "House of Wax" also has Jared Padalecki, so there's that. You could also get a little Scottish with Episode 116- "The Descent," Episode 187- "Dog Soldiers" and Episode 271- "The Wicker Man." And, screw it, the Nic Cage "The Wicker Man" remake is one of our all-time favorite episodes-- it's number 108. In this week's episode, we're Clive Barkering back into some Clive Barker with the director's cut of Clive Barker's 1990 film "Nightbreed." Special topics for your consideration include: Danny 'oompah' Elfman, famous Canadian wrestler murders, terrible catchphrases, Star Trek looks, confusing motivations and Bob Seger. Because why not? Catch some more Clive Barkering with Episode 34- "Candyman," Episode 51- "Hellraiser," Episode 150- "Midnight Meat Train" and Episode 205- "Hellbound: Hellraiser II." Boy, that's a lot of Barker. In this week's episode...IT'S A CROSSOVER! We met up with Jon & Josef from the Marveling at Marvel's Marvels podcast to discuss the 2020 Marvel horror (?) film (??) "New Mutants." It was a not a great entrée into the Marvel universe for Katie. No, in fact it was terrible. Special topics for your consideration include the most comic book talk that has ever appeared on this show, Big Bear Doin' Thangs and quite frankly bad writing, bad directing, bad accents, bad acting...who says you can't have it all?? Regardless, a very special thank you to MatMM for having so much fun with us. Do you like horror movies based on comic books? You may enjoy Episode 70- "30 Days of Night." In this week's episode, возьмите сваренное вкрутую яйцо и держитесь за задницы (grab a hardboiled egg and hang onto your butts) because we're talking about the 2020 Russian sci-fi horror film "Sputnik." Special topics for your consideration include: the absolute worst profession (astronaut/cosmonaut, obviously), aliens that are both adorable and downright brutal, an assessment of our own professionalism, being a WILDCARD! and also being aware that you are deeply not a WILDCARD! This movie's got heavy "Alien" vibes. Check it out, it's Episode 65. For the second week in a row, we're wandering around in the strange and somewhat incomprehensible world of the year 1999: the dawning of a new millenium, Y2K and the 1999 modernization of a classic tale, "Dracula 2000." Seriously though, why? (and is the pun "Why2K" too much? Eh, too late now.) Special topics for your consideration include: a lot of very very good Dracula-based film ideas, the ephemeral quality of Monster Magnet in our memories, the inexplicable relationship between Dracula and nu-metal, and weird pants and even weirder plot points. Some vampire movies are really good, like Episode 163- "Let the Right One In." A lot of other vampire movies are really bad, like Episode 89- "Queen of the Damned." In this week's episode, we really try to find some joy in the 1999 teen horror comedy "Idle Hands." One one hand (pun FULLY intended) it does have podcast-favorite Seth Green, but on the other hand it also has no plot. Other topics for your consideration include: greasy teens, weed as a superhero, an odd medium for songwriting, how much Sublime is too much Sublime (answer: any amount of Sublime is too much Sublime) and a visit from our old friend "Dragula." Man we do love Seth Green, though. Check out Episode 61- "Krampus," Episode 97- "IT," Episode 102- "Holidays," and his crowning achievement of Kenny Fisher in Episode 269- "Can't Hardly Wait." In this week's episode, we learned a very important lesson: sometimes Keanu Reeves is just not enough. We're discussing the 2015 Eli Roth erotic (sigh) horror film "Knock Knock." Special topics for your consideration include: a slight limitation in Keanu's acting range, corny middle-aged dads with an eclectic vinyl collection, tossing a fried egg on it, opinions about art, and a joke that finally finds its home. We've done one other Eli Roth film-- Episode 179- "Cabin Fever." We've also covered two other arguably erotic (SIGH) horror films-- Episode 286- "Knife + Heart" and Episode 302- "Verotika." In this week's episode, we're discussing a listener pick (thanks Roland! I guess?) with the 1988 sequel "Phantasm 2." Special topics for your consideration include: cool NBA nicknames for your pals Allen and Katie, an in-depth analysis of Tallman's horniness, a classic impression from a cinematic great, brain boyfriends, Whopper Jrs (Whoppers Jr.?), and the bewildering enigma that is Reggie. Did you miss our discussion of the original "Phantasm?" It's Episode 67. Want to check out some episodes on other films from the great great year of 1988? Some of our favorites are Episode 137- "Monkey Shines," Episode 140- "Killer Klowns from Outer Space," and a Linnea Quigley double feature: Episodes 192 and 265- "Night of the Demon" and "Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama," respectively. This episode marks our last one of this terrible, horrible, no good, very bad year. Rather than suffering through our semi-traditional New Years romcom, we decided to end the year by covering a movie that would bring us pure joy. We hope it makes you feel the same way, and that you'll forgive us for this brief foray out of horror and into TWO AND A HALF HOURS OF SOLID ACTION, BAY-BEE! We're talking about the 2017 8th installment of one of America's most beloved film franchises-- we're talking about "The Fate of the Furious." Special topics include: family! respect! cars! butts! and... babies?! If you're deeply itching for a romcom, may we suggest Episode 209- "Love Actually," Episode 261- "You've Got Mail," or the time we lost our minds in a lockdown and devoted nearly 2.5 hours to discussing "Titanic," which is chronicled in Bonus Episodes #3 & 4? What can we say, we got punchy! We're discussing a 2019 film that stars everyone's favorite straight edge former pro wrestler, CM Punk, "Girl on the Third Floor." Special topics for your consideration include: the perils of being a generally non-confrontational person, having nebby neighbors who don't actually give you any helpful information, financial advisor tattoos, a very very drippy bodily fluid that we cannot seem to stop talking about, and thinking about ghost sex? Maybe just don't. Love watching professional wrestlers act in horror movies? You've got Jesse "The Body" Ventura in Episode 80- "Predator" and Skywalker Nitron (aka Tyler Mane) in Episode 301- "Halloween" (kind of an obscure wrestler, but he was the only-ever champion of the Universal Wrestling Federation in the mid 1990s, so it counts!) We've also discussed one of the few WWE-produced films to not feature a superstar, Episode 16- "Oculus." In this week's episode, Katie finally gets what she's been asking for and instantly regrets it. We're talking about the much-anticipated 2019 Lindsay Lohan spectacular, "Among the Shadows." Special topics for your consideration include: presidential prom limos for President Husband, having no motivation to do any of the things you do, FREXIT!, the benefits of recording episodes from one's home, sorta-vampires and kinda-werewolves, and the true gloriousness that is Lindsay Lohan. Big fan of LL? Please enjoy Episode 104- "I Know Who Killed Me." Big fan of absolutely nonsensical werewolf movies? Try Episode 217- "The Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewolf."
